Anyone else annoyed that Beyoncé dropped her new album so quickly? This has really annoyed me. She posted one picture and a tiny caption on the day he died and then quickly rolled out her promo shots, the album, and world tour. Could she not have waited? Or said more? I refuse to listen to an album she released while so many people were overcome with grief! I understand the wheels were probably in motion and she couldn't delay it but surely she could have done more to honour his memory. She's arguably the biggest pop star in the world and a lot of young fans look to her. He received more touching tributes from random indie artists, country artists, movie stars... Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

Bey and her husband/manager/image consultant actually do something to take the attention off of themselves and at the same time sacrificing a few million dollars? Sure.....

Can't stand either of them, vastly overrated, overhyped pair of bores. Sorry I'm doing Anger in my grief phases today.

I'm annoyed she didn't drop it sooner so Prince could hear it because he was a fan. I am not a fan so I have no intention of ever hearing it since I'm not buying it. I don't think Prince would have wanted her to hold off on dropping it. So, I am not annoyed by that. It just makes me sad when I think about things Prince can not experience.

I think it's great that she decided to drop it now So that Prince and Drake won't let her have the #1 spot "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

I know they performed together at the Grammys in '04 but Prince seriously was a fan of Beyonka? I find that surprsing and hypocritical because he's dissed/shaded others in the same group, like Britney, Gaga, and Bieber "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

Would have been nice to have Prince top the charts for another week but hell when Beyonce is pissed off and wants something out I don't think you stand in her way. I loved the Grammy performance with Beyonce back in 2004 but have grown bored with Angry Beyonce. If you want to split from Jay Z because he cheated on you, go get a lawyer...why should we have to pay to listen to your therapy? All good things they say never last...

With all due respect, you clearly have no idea about how these things work. The release date for Beyonce's album would have been planned weeks, if not months, in advance of the death of Prince. As for social media posts on Facebook, Twitter etc, these in many cases would have been programmed and set up days in advance, and most likely, not by Beyonce herself. She will have a publicist, as does Prince. So I don't think you can read anything into the fact that her new album dropped so shortly after the death of Prince other than it being an unfortunate coincidence.
Other than a few aforementioned social media ads, you will note that Beyonce has actually been a little quiet on the publicity front for this album. It is quite possibly she has done this so as to show some sensitivity in light of Prince's untimely passing.

Why is this surprising? As great a musician Prince was, one of his shortcomings was that he was often hypocritical in some of the things he said or did. For example, deriding other musicians for covering songs, and then proceeding to cover songs by other artists. Let's be honest.

Well I don't remember exactly what he said about Britney, I was reading about it on some old threads here a few months ago.
And as for Gags and Bieber, I don't know if I can post links to a Youtube video but here it is anyways. 2:15 for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_UZp4Peo6U It's the interview from The View in 2012 in case I can't post the link.
There was also that time that Prince supposedly tweeted a letter about artists buying awards and Lady Gaga was mentioned in the letter so that obviously caused quite a stir with the "Little Monsters". "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

True still love P just the same "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

Yes and no, but they are both irrelevant to me. not as talented as portrayed and have a heavy PR machine. Wouldn't waste my energy on them.

I did mention in my post that she probably couldn't have delayed because of all the factors in play. However, I do think she could have said or done more. She's too business as usual and matter of fact about it all. People I didn't expect have shown prince more love. Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

Surely they could have delayed by one week as it's only a digital release at the moment. .

She covered Purple Rain and Nasty Girl in concert as a tribute... Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. It might feel like our lives have stopped, but does that mean other people need to put their lives on hold, too? I personally don't think so.

This. In my case it has nothing to do with the anger phase of the mourning process, I just don't care about them at all, never have, never will. Forever changed

That was my exact thought the day after he died, and all of the Prince tributes on the front page of Tidal had been replaced with Beyonce promo.
Of course, the album could have quite easily have gone on the front page along with the other new releases, but it shouldn't have replaced all of the Prince tributes not even 24hrs after they were put up. Very disrespectful. Her last album was fantastic, but I haven't even thought about listening to this one yet out of principle. If you ever lose someone dear 2 U, never say the words "they're gone". They'll come back.

. So every single person in the world is supposed to put their careers, planning, marketing, a cable network broadcast, and a tour's production, crew, scheduling, local crews, promoters, sponsors, dancers, band, etc - all of which has been in the works for probably a good year or more, on hold because Prince died? Did you want Beyonce to flood her instagram with random pics of Prince she found on Google Images or Bing Images? How long should she have waited? A week? A month? A year? Should she call anyone on the org and ask "are you okay with me releasing my art now?" . As I said before, no one is obligated to say or do anything with anyone's passing, celebrity or not. I'm glad she rolled on with Lemonade. Life goes on, whether you want it to or not. For us big Prince fans, our process is different. But Beyonce is a business person, as every good artist should be. Ergo show business. . Dis a bid'ness, and you ain't too far gone to see that yet. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

it was longer than 24 hours...
this whole thread is melodramatic.

Prince would NOT want anyone to stop doing what they're doing on his account, plus there's just way too much money poured into getting a new album out right before a tour so the fans can get familiar with it. But if he had a new album out right after one of his friends or influences died, he wouldn't and probably couldn't have stopped it.
When it comes to album releases, a LOT is riding on that first week in sales because it usually drops off in a few weeks. Albums staying on the top of charts for months is rare.
Put it this way, if George Lucas died the day before the next Star Wars movie comes out, they're going to just put the brakes on releasing it?
