Duran Duran sign to Arista Records http://www.hellomagazine....uranduran/
28 MARCH 2003 Eighties supergroup Duran Duran are set for a major comeback, with a new album and tour already in the works. And despite the fact that their heyday has long-since passed, the coiffeured heart-throbs have won a staggering £30-million record deal with label Arista. The full original line-up has been reunited for the first time in 17 years, and Arista is hoping their enduring worldwide appeal will help revive the success of years gone by. "It will be their most exciting album in many years," said a spokesman. "It's classic Duran Duran for the new millennium." A 13-CD box set comprising all the band's singles will also be released in June. Duran Duran: The Singles Box spans their most famous tracks, including hits like Hungry Like The Wolf, Girls On Film and Rio. Thankfully Simon Le Bon and the rest of the boys are not planning to recreate their old image for the comeback, so they'll be leaving the make-up and hair gel at home. Their new look will be a more mature, smart-casual style, befitting some of pop's elder statesmen. After all, the chart-topping pin-ups are all now in the forties | |
