La Toya Jackson’s Heart (Don’t Lie) is enlarged – with unreleased material! [Includes Prince song] After more than thirty years, La Toya Jackson’s “Heart Don’t Lie” album is finally getting the treatment it deserves.
Originally released in 1984 on Private-I Records, the album boasts a handful of catchy singles, including “Hot Potato,” “Bet’cha Gonna Need My Lovin’,” and the Billboard Hot 100-charting title track. Largely produced by the Kay Gees’ guitarist Amir Bayyan, the album was recorded during the fall of 1983 and beginning of 1984.
The album features input from a number of influential of musical guests, including Shalamar’s Howard Hewett and reggae-pop group Musical Youth on the title track, musicians from Kool & the Gang on several tracks throughout the album, and collaborations with her siblings Marlon, Janet and Tito, who co-produced the track “Frustration.” A surprise stomper is La Toya’s take on the Prince-written single “Private Joy,” a track mentioned as being a favorite by most reviewers.
Vibe On Records is expanding the album’s eight tracks to twenty-nine with a plethora of exciting bonus material. Among the unreleased tracks are two mixes of La Toya’s original recording of “One Step Up, Two Steps Back”, made famous by soul icon Betty Wright; numerous remixes of planned single “I Like Everything You’re Doin'”; two further completed, unreleased songs; the 7-inch versions of the album’s hits; and finally, club mixes, dubs and instrumental tracks.
Rounding out the package is a sixteen-page booklet with previously unpublished photos, a new essay, an illustrated discography and expected input from La Toya herself.
A limited number of collectible La Toya art cards will be mailed with VibeOnRecords.com pre-orders, which are expected to ship August 5, 2016.

Interesting. I wonder why FTG weren't able to license these extra songs for their reissue a few years ago? "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

They only wanted a one-disc version, apparently.

It was probably just in response to the demand for the one-disc reissue for Heart Don't Lie, compared to other one-disc reissues they can't get rid of.

I was surprised at how heartbroken she seemed by Prince's death. She was tweeting about it multiple times and said he was like her brother and that Katherine was really upset at the news too. I had no idea that Prince was close to he Jackson family. Maybe do, just not like did before

I've never been able to find any info or theories on why Universal/Motown have never seemed interested in reissuing his back catalog other than the one or two titles we have seen? "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

There was a different little label that licensed and reissued Bobby Nunn's Private Party, but Jermaine's relationship with Motown is different.
