Did Beyoncé Lift An MJ Bass Hook? Has anyone ever noticed that the pre-hook of Beyonce's "Deja Vu" - namely the bass line - sounds a lot like the opening bass line hook of "I Can't Help it" from MJ's Off The Wall?
It's the "Deja Vu" section with:
Boy, I try to catch myself
I thought for sure it was a sample, but MJ's nowhere in the credits. I'm kind of surprised that, if she did lift it, that no one from MJ's camp called her out on it. Surely something like that would have made the press somewhere.
Someone should mash those two songs up. [Edited 4/16/16 11:02am] Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

They're different. The pitch and cadence are very similar but its a different melody. “It means finding the very human narrative of a man navigating between idealism and pragmatism, faith and politics, non- violence, the pitfalls of acclaim as the perils of rejection” - Lesley Hazleton on the first Muslim, the prophet.

I missed the part you specified (the pre chorus) yeah they sound familiar. maybe they got some kind of special clearance like Alicia Keys did for her Purple R ain sample for her song "Like you never see me again" The song is unique enough though, It's not a rip.

I didnt think Blurred Lines sound like "Got to give it up" It actually sounds more like "Give it to me" by Madonna which Pharrell wrote also.

Also the day after MJ died Beyonce played I Can't Help It as a tribute so its not a coincidence [Edited 4/16/16 13:08pm]
