was a bit of a janet fan myself from begin 90's up to 'decade'. 'velvet rope' was cool, but 'all for you' doesn't really interest me. i'm not fascinated by her music anymore, as well as her performance and appearance. but i got nothing but respect for her..

I saw the All For You Tour and the Velvet Rope Tour and they just prove that Janet is one of the best entertainers! I love Janet Jackson!

Around the time of the All For You tour there was another so-called diva of pop touring as well. Man, let me tell you, I hope she was at one of Janet's shows because then she would learn how to dance and entertain PROPERLY!

Janet Jackson always comes off sincere in her work (even if it's a load of crap) and I believe that every album has a lot of her in it. This woman has not jumped from issue to issue nor sound to sound...she is just Janet. Love her or hate her, she ain't changin'!

I used to be a Janet fan4life. But her other fans4life really turned me off. I can't tell you how many times I was kicked off of the Janet list for saying what was obvious, because it was critical of her. For example, that I said she was married to Rene before she revealed it to the world, that she was a bigger ho than Madonna, etc. biggrin

have to respond to this: they act up for the wrong reasons in my opinion. they're mainly acting up to save face, to regain the status (in their own eyes) that they are untouchable and to profit from their probable victory (read: oil-wells)..

however, to address your actual point (hopefully this whole exchange will be moved tot he P&R forum or snipped altogether), but what you're saying is not logical. from all reports, people all around the world are speaking out against the US, and relations with 3 strong allies (France, Germany, Russia) have been strained. if America was trying to save face, we'd have cowtowed to the UN and the self-serving nations i mentioned above.

the US (government) don't care about the rest of the world, but they can't completely ignore them of course. so, they pretend to care, while they obviously don't. it's just a formality to bush. "well, support is welcome, but not necessary. we'll go to war with or without you." i talk about "saving face" and "regaining status". not in the eyes of europeans, but in the eyes of american citizens. they couldn't care less about europe. i once saw an episode of 'ned and stacey', an american series you're probably familiar with, in which they were talking about something being a pain in the ass. they said, and i quote, "it's just like europe, they're a pain in the ass, but you got to live with 'm." i know, this is a comedy series, and not all americans think alike, but i'm sure a lot of americans do feel this way. makes me sad. nothing personal though. lol

I said he was a druggie and it was his fault the marriage ended and thet booted me off. What nerve. Did you know that son of a bitch got 15 million, the beach house, and the $120,000 mercedes. He didn't do anything but fuck her (as well as other bitches) and tell her "yeah that sounds good. That looks good." WTF! Where's Jermaine when you need him!

gladly. janet looks kinda generic to me. yeah, sure, she's hot. but it's the kind of hot that comes pretty cheap these days. Madonna, on the other hand, is a surreal beauty. the individual parts aren't all that gorgeous, but together, they the sum is more than the parts. Madonna can totally transform herself to look any way she pleases. Janet... well, she's always Janet. which is nice. don't get me wrong, she's beautiful. but like I said, it's a generic kind of beautiful shrug

I was kicked off a Janet mailing list once too. Why? Because they were ALL slagging off Madonna and I stepped up to defend her!!!

THAT is how whacked out her fans are. At least Prince gets major respect at all the intelligent MJ boards where the fans are over 14.

Hey, there was a joke thread at a UK site a few days ago about UK has-been Gina G being more interesting than Janet. Gina is back in the press over here because of a TV show, and I mentioned her singing Fever rather well the other week. This WEIRDO Janet fan didn't read the post and thought I was talking about Kylie Minogue and her album Fever, and proceeded to type out this long winded post about how Kylie isn't that big in the USA (ironic really, because Janet isn't big in the UK either). They're way more delusional and obsessed than any Michael fans I've come across in my experience.

I sort of went off Janet around that time I got kicked off her mailing list. Then I went to a fan gathering in London just over a year ago because one of my mates is a big Janet fan (but we're both bigger MJ fans). I left after we got to see that hilarious Hawaii show. Glad I got to see it though because UK TV never bothered about it enough to show it in its entirety or with decent editing (they even repeated the same performance 3 times throughout the broadcast).

I was a Janet fan in the 80s.I really liked her debut album in '82 (remember the jam "Come Give Your Love To Me"?).And of course,I liked the 'Control' album. But my favorite Janet album is 'Rhythm Nation',that is GREAT!! Lyrically and musically,it was a radical departure from her previous albums, and it took her in a new, exciting direction.

But I lost interest in Janet by the time she released her 1993 album 'Janet'.Her music began to sound stale at this point (Jam and Lewis were clearly running out of ideas),and her sex-kitten act was being done better and more convincingly by Madonna.Janet's subsequent albums ('The Velvet Rope' and 'All For You') didn't really take her in any bold directions. While Madonna was branching out and expanding her sound with career-defining projects like 'Evita' and 'Ray Of Light',Janet was still playing the same role : the sex kitten looking for a guy with a "nice package".She was still working with the same producers (who now produce almost everyone else in R&B these days).Nowadays, she bores me.

it's funny how people insist on comparing janet to madonna (heck, i do it). i guess because it's a man's industry for the most part and they are two successful women. I don't think though, that Janet needs to compete with madonna or vice versa. There is certainly room for both. I think janet is a better singer and dancer and entertainer but that doesn't mean i can't find interest in madonna or must like one or the other. i mean, i like Prince AND Michael Jackson and don't feel the need to side with one of them, regardless of who i feel is more relevant or talented. just my twocents...it's music y'all, let's just have some fun with it! smile

I agree wholeheartedly with your viewpoint. Janet & Madonna are two separate bodies of art. The ONLY comparison I see is that they are both women in pop music. Janet is doing her own thing and Madonna is doing her own thing. I don't see anyone pitting Bob Dylan against Eric Clapton or the Beatles against Pink Floyd. Nor do I see people pitting Michael against Prince -- Oh, they're all men so they're unquestionably valid. But when women are involved, people feel the need to pit them against each other like cats. Madonna doesn't need public approval, neither does Janet. The two can coexist equally. They both are in the pop game doing their own thing and I give them their props for lasting as long as they have. All artists have their own messages and things to address. I enjoy Janet's music and Madonna's music. So yeah, more power to the two!
