Nelly covers Thomas Rhett's 'Die A Happy Man'

Nelly goes country again.

Nelly has proven his ability to blend country and hip hop yet again with a cover of Thomas Rhett’s “Die A Happy Man.” The rapper keeps the song’s romance in tact while also upping its danceability with added synths and replacing Rhett’s acoustic guitar with piano.

The cover is reminiscent of Nelly’s 2004 collaboration with Tim McGraw “Over and Over,” and his remix of Florida Georgia ...�Cruise” back in 2013.

Though Nelly has a clear connection to country music and was rumored to release a country album, he told EW in October that his next collection wouldn’t necessarily be in the genre. “That got misconstrued,” he said in October. “We talked about doing an EP that went across all boundaries and being a different vibe. I love country music. I respect it to the utmost. But there’s nothing in the world that makes me think I can do a country album.”
