Oh snap I didn't even know she had an album coming out. I like it. Seems she's really going for a diverse catalogue.

[img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/Mju94mt.png?1[/img:$uid] As for the name of the project, Spalding explained: “Emily is my middle name, and I’m using this fresh persona as my inner navigator. This project is about going back and reclaiming un-cultivated curiosity, and using it as a compass to move forward and expand.

She just became my favorite artist? wow. That was the Family Stand used to do. Living Colour kinda vibe. The first one sounds like Joni, via Hissing Of Summer Lawns. The second is just beyond great. Like how she trills her voice. She cute. No afro, but afrodelica. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Wow--thanks for sharing! In just these 2 songs I'm hearing shades of Joni Mitchell, Primus, and Kate Bush. She's certainly going for some range. It'll be great to here the rest of this project/album. I don't like to sound superficial, but I must say that I really do like her look in the video for "Good Lava." "Yum" is my initial reaction on several levels.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I kinda wanna see her. She has been at Austin City Limits a few times but this seems kinda different. I wonder how often she and Prince get together to watch American Idol, like he said on Arsenio Hall last time.

She's great. IDK about her new look though. Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Has anyone listened to the new album? I just got it and I'm going to try and give it a spin later today.

Yeah it's really really good, i can highly recommend it, like someone said there's a definite Joni like quality to her voice at points that goes surprisingly well with the rock inflected rnb/funk sound that predominates on the album. The deluxe edition also has a really great extended take on the album track Unconditional Love. I must confess i haven't listened to any of her prior works but this was a brilliant jumping on point for me. So yeah, it's great, get it Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

> It's a trilogy I believe. "Chamber Music Society is Jazz/Classical. "Radio Music Society" is Jazz/R&B. "D+Evolution" is Jazz/Rock.

I have all of her other albums but I think this one is by far her best and I really really like the others. The mixture of progressive rock and jazz/ art pop works well with her vocal harmonies. I was able to get the deluxe version and I'm glad I did. And yeah I can definitely hear the Joni inspiration which is cool since I adore Joni so much

Would say imho it's more funk-prog-rock-opera than jazz... It's a wonderful album,i recommend it. The Ignorant asserts,The learned doubts,The wise thinks.
