Her vocals have never sounded better, which makes this new single all the more disappointing. She needs better songwriters to put her songs across.

Just another case of a classic artist trying to keep up with these younguns out here. She sounds great, but the song? Meh

Yeah it seems dude has confusion as to where he wanna go musically
and personally man or woman.
As for Chaka and these old school artists they have to toe the line between
staying true to themselves and also doing something not so predictable or they
will be labeled stale or selling out. I agree with everyone. Great vocally but
underwhelming track.

I think C.K. sounds incredible! But, I don't really care for the song. I think it sounds like a demo. It's like they said, "F**k it. We'll just release the demo version". I think it's a sloppy mess and someone of her caliber shouldn't release a single that sounds this amateurish. The production and vocal arrangement are just so chaotic. It has potential and I like the message, but I think someone needs to go back into the studio and do a different mix of the song.

Why didn't Chaka work with Jam & Lewis again ? The awesome 'Funk This' album from 2007 was a Grammy Winner

From what I read, she's working on a Joni Mitchell covers album. This is probably just a stand alone single for female empowerment.

confused please,no! Covers albums are lazy.I'd rather hear an album of all-new songs from her.

Don't worry. This joni mitchell project will more than likely end up in the can like "I-Khan" and the Jazz album she claimed to be working on at Blue Note a couple years ago. Chaka does not have an audience for a Joni Mitchell project. It would have to be marketed outside of her core R&B audience and, quite frankly, her management team seems a bit too lifeless so I really don't see them promoting a project like that to the right audience.

I'd buy her covering Joni.. more than I'd buy this single. I love her and her voice, but this doesn't do it for me at all.

Change it one more time..

Weak song but Chaka's voice is still great, not memorable or great melody and as first choice of single not a good sign for the album. Chaka has unfortunately gone the Prince route i.e. her recent stuff isn't a patch on her best earlier stuff.

I think C.K. should retire from R&B and become a jazz singer like Natalie Cole/Patti Austin or a Rock singer like Betty Lavette. She's done all she can do in the R&B/Pop world.

This might actually be a good idea.I know she loves to do jazz music.Natalie Cole had tremendous success when she (sorta) abandoned R&B in her later years and focused on jazz.

Natalie had a super famous father whose covers turned her into a Grammy princess....

True, but I still think Chaka would thrive in the jazz world. She's definitely got the talent for it.
