Angie Stone I sooo love this lady, I love her whole attitude and her earthy vibe. Her music speaks direclty 2 the heart thats why its easy 2 grow in a person's ear. I came 2 her concert last year and she was bangin', the whole set was exotic and too funky(4 most of the crowd who didn't witness Earth,Wind & fire's concerts) her live set is very much "eye candy" and when I say "eye candy" I don't mean the sex stuff and all that new bullshit,,I'm talking about a "Soul Broadway" if that makes any sense 2 you The woman is also a survivour, she has been in this music biz for 20 years. She started her career as a rapper, joined a group(4got its name) and worked behind the scenes with ppl like D'Angelo, Lenny Kravits, Mary J and alot of other folks. Her "Black Diamond" was an alright set 4 me but her "Mahogany Soul" is the one that made me dug deeper into her stuff and her backround. I absloutly LUV that LP. There was a rumor saying that she made a homophobic remark to the audience at an African-American festival in Newark and check out what she said-"I would never disrespect any man, woman, chick or child out there. We're all the same. What goes around comes around, and karma kicks us all in the butt in the end of the day. But I'm a Sag. I'll give you the shirt off my back." My FAVE songs from her are "Holding Back The Years"(from the Love&Basketball OST), "Mad Issues", "Shoulda Been You", "Just a pimp", "20 dollars" and the Crutis Mayfield's remake song "The Making Of You". So,,any Angie fans in here??

And yeah,,she def moved me It's a beautiful song yeah, probably his greatest chance of commercial success since the Gold album IMO. Had it been released on a real label anyway... The video did the rounds on BET etc, you snooze you lose. If you do kazaa file search you may see it one day as NPGMC members got it as a download...

Criticism?? LOL I see the exact opposite,,people love her ass so damn much. Even when the so-called anti-gay quote came,,ppl paid no attentions 2 it. The chic that reminds me a bit of Gladys is RnB vocalist "Sharissa" her raspy voice is just OH!(in a good way).

What are the criticisms of Angie? Besides shallow stuff like her not conforming to many visual stereotypes of a popular modern singer...

Yeah but why didn't she include it in her "Mahogany Soul" LP?? It woulda been intersting 4 youngsters to check out a whole new different level of music.

I always read comments about her taking others backbeats to make her sonfgs etc and that she isn't the real deal ( I dont know what people mean by the real deal). But i that vein usually. That most of her hits are taken from other sings etc. "Climb in my fur."

Calvin Richardson has got his deal and left her side now n done a solo version of "More Than A Woman".

Anybody know if her cover of the Christopher Cross song "Sailing" is on a released album/single? I can't find it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I Respect Her Talent&also the fact She has been in the Business for a Real Long time:but to Me She is like a R&B Puffy with all the Covers&Clive Davis Factor pushing the Formula way to Much for me.She is being Pushed as a Gladys Knight Clone which In My Lifetime She will never touch.Angie Stone to Me is a Poor Woman's Gloria Gaynor&overall for VOcals Gaynor got Her Beat IMHO.as for "U make My Sunshine" it would be a decent B-Side but D'angelo flipped that Track better IMHO.that Song&vibe had me thinking as I still do that Prince got D'angelo's Sloppy-Seconds. mistermaxxx

Ouch that was sooo harsh Mr.Maxxx 2 see the woman put some positive music I mean how many sistas out there praising our brothas?? Hell last time I checked TLC and alot of other RnB females were dissing men who have small tools and calling them scrubs. Its really nice 2 see a sistah liftup her bruthas 4 a change. I see the Gladys Knights connection pops out all of a sudden nowadays even tho I don't see any thing similar between the 2 ladies. Angie is a lifetime huslter and finaly she got her hustle right and the most important thing is she didn't became bitter after what was taken from her.

I feel you brotha but I don't really see whats so similar between Gladys & Angie so they could make a comparision. Now Clive got his Whitneies(Monica+Deborah) Mary J(Alicia) Tevin(Mario) but as 4 Angie, I think she stands on her own between these ladies. 2 be honest, it would be painfuly foolish 2 put a Gladys Knight clown cuz at the end of the day he'll easily lose. I hope you help me a lil' bit here 2 figure out what they see about her 2 make her look like Gladys.

Give credit where credit is due, this sister has some decent albums out. And she is doing it without getting half naked, bring herself or her race down. My kids can listen to her anytime without me having to censor the CD. I love this soulfull, strong black woman. Drop all the albums you want Angie, I will be listening.
