Do yourself a favor and read Miles' autobiography ("Miles", 1989) - it's a must.

Very much looking forward to see this movie. Don Cheadle is a great actor and I am sure he will do our man Miles Davis justice.
Later I went back in time and discovered a lot more great Miles Davis records. People can say what they want about his 70's period but I love this experimental electronic phase and the deep deep sounds that came from it. I also admire his older work, and I just love that Miles was always trying new things, that is the sign of a truely great artist.
I have also read his autobiography and it's a very interesting book. Anyway, I am excited about the movie and I hope it will be a great success! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

John freakin' Coltrane used to have an actual church on Divisadero Street in San Francisco called "The Church of SAINT John Coltrane." Murals of St. John were painted on the walls and people from all over the world, especially Europeans, used to come to listen to the jazz jams that used to take place for hours on a Sunday. Unfortunately, the church didn't buy the property when it could have and was forced to close when rents were hiked up in the hood. I think it might still be around but not in the musical force like in the 90s, when you could hear the jams from blocks away... I was always bemused by the Saint thing... You made some valid points. It's too bad there are those here with a hidden agenda that try to ruin it for others. They get banned and then they go into the prince.org site discussion forum and complain about things as if they own the site. They act like they are the race experts too. Some of them even start threads defending Bill Cosby - just because he is black. But their true colors come out from time to time and we can see they are just full of hate. Kind of fitting in a thread about Davis - who seems like he was an asshole who hated everyone. Lol. Go figure. Looking forward to seeing this movie though. Cheadle is going to kill it!

^ I saw a documentary on it here a few yrs back, on the BBC I think, called 'Saint Coltrane' or something like that. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yeah, that 'black culture' comment was kinda harsh. If they keep that shit up, just report them. I have gotten several people banned or suspended for playing the race card. It's sad because instead of actual discussion, it ends up being just baseless accusations that end up halting all discussion or getting threads locked. I think this movie will do well though and will most likely have better acting than Straight Outta Compton. //Yes because black culture has nothing to do with music at all😳 And people should be banned for mentioning race or culture at all. You both need to get a grip on reality.

I have some Miles albums and Sun Ra too, that has nothing to do with mainstream popularity. Sun Ra is not mainstream known either. What does black culture have to do with mainstream popularity or them being known worldwide? Jazz is not mainstream music, it doesn't get Top 40 airplay. It doesn't get talked about in social media like Beyonce, Iggy Izalea and Nicki Minaj. Jazz was mainstream in the 1930s during the swing era. It's doubtful that this movie will will the same box office numbers as the NWA movie. That has nothing to do with me. . If you're tired, no one is forcing you to read what I post. Skip over it. Problem solved. Jazz is not played on Top 40 stations because it is not Top 40 music😳 You are actually referencing Beyoncé, Nicky and Izzy in a topic about Miles Davies!!' because some teenager is talking about them on social media when I informed you that "Kind Of Blue" still sells today. Do you think anyone will be talking or buying those talentless chick music 50 years from now? But you think the Monkees are an important group🙄

Somebody must not have anything better to do if they're replying to some comments from early February that they've already commented on at the time. What's the point of that? It's not that serious. I don't care about an old conversation, it's in the past. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. I just watched the Trailer on Youtube and it looks Funny & Gangsta..The flick premiered in Cincinnati over the weekend...It's gonna be interesting to see how Film Critics judge Cheadle's Directing....Director/Actor/Producer , several hats that could garner Don a couple of Oscar Nods.
