1: SNUB: Madonna, Prince are no-shows
Both '80s icons returned in huge ways this year with new albums: Madonna, touting her dance-heavy 13th effort Rebel Heart; and Prince, with Tidal exclusive HITNRUN Phase One. But lo and behold, neither could muster any love from the Academy (save for Madge collaborator Diplo, whose work on Heart helped nab him producer-of-the-year recognition).
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U

i'm glad the overrated Black Messiah album didn't get the gazillion nonimations some people predicted. He's up for 3, only two are in the running as llegit i'll say. i predict he'll win one.

other than that, i thought it was interesting that both Buddy Guy AND Muddy Waters are up for Best Blues album

i'm pulling for kendrick to cash out!

Omarion, who is not Nick Cannon nor Marques Houston, is a tad upset that he is not getting a Grammy nomination this year for his recording with Jhene Aiko and Chris Brown. lol

"The game has long changed since I was introduced to it. They want to still treat me like I'm a new to this. My moment is coming trust." CORRECT! He "got" in "the game" while the "getting" was good, did his little dance in his little uniform, and now he thinks he is Lionel Ritchie. B2K was, for all intents and purposes, the first horseman of the recorded music apocalypse.

As always it really looks like an A list for what is selling at a label, pretty "phoned in" list of nominees. The Rock category is insanely awful this year, can i pick "None" of the above. Meghan Trainor new artist? hasn't she been around for a bit now, at least over a year? Or am I just so bored with her it feels like more than a year.

Maybe prince will make another surprise MEGA appearance. To present D'angelo with his very FIRST grammy award. Then be the talk of the muziq industry with his youthful appearance and fly threads.

I don't think the TIDAL folks own or sponsor the Grammys.. I doubt that was in his contract. But it would shonuff melt my pannies if he blatantly read a sentence from the teleprompter at this show too.

The Rap Album category is actually decent (aside from The Pinkprint. Nice to see J. Cole get a nod and Compton on the list as well. I'd be happy with either of those winning even though it's likely going to Drake. I enjoyed IYRTITL but it's not on the level of Forest Hills Drive and Compton. The Rap Song noms are atrocious though.

Besides AoTY, the only other category I can say I care for is Record of the Year in which I'm rooting for "Uptown Funk". Of course, I wouldn't be surprised to see Taylor win every category she's nominated for; I'd like to be proven wrong.

That's Prince these days -
minor hits on the radio
& presenting minor awards.
Remember when he would open the show?
Remember when people use to talk about his music? sad

Since when a weak ass so called battle rap song deserves a nomination? They seem to always waste a slot or two with that Rap category. "Back To Back" was just a throwaway answer track to Meek Mill's desperate attempt for some attention in the rap world. BUT....because it's Drake, everyone's favorite commercial rapper, they just had to nominate that song.

-

Too bad J.Cole probably won't get much shine this year for a superb piece of work. It's going to be K.Dot's year though. I'm expecting him to sweep all Rap/Hip Hop categories, maybe even crossover into the mainstream lanes too. He'll be the critics darling this year, while Taylor will be the favorite to win it all. Just on the strength of her record sales alone.

-

The value of artistic merit went out the window a looooooong time ago.
