only poetry can help sometimes...for me.

Blackstar

*********************************

Magnetic energy of dreams sanctified

Echoing tunnel of souls magnified

Pouring into the abyss

Your voices...with no hit or miss

*********************************

Arrive to the other side

Where they amplify

All that is heard

Or feared to hear

Within and without

Whether we want to try

Or not...

*******************************

Caricatures of your own creation

We cling to you

And become distinct beings

Know that your words exist

Revitalize other alien creatures

Living eons in our own time

*******************************

And a lad is indeed heard

With every drop of the needle

On the turn tables of the future...

*******************************

Which play for every ear to hear

To know what dark dukes remain

To bring us backwards,

Forwards,

And then jolting to the moment

Of where and when

Somewhere, somehow

We finally become you...

In the here and now.

****************************

It kiss’d me when we met,
Jumping from the chair it sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I’m weary, say I’m sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss’d me,
Say I’m growing old, but add,
It kiss’d me

Ramona
Come closer
Shut softly your watery eyes
The pangs of your sadness
Shall pass as your senses will rise
The flowers of the city
Though breathlike
Get deathlike at times
And there’s no use in tryin’
T’ deal with the dyin’
Though I cannot explain that in lines

Your cracked country lips
I still wish to kiss
As to be under the strength of your skin
Your magnetic movements
Still capture the minutes I’m in
But it grieves my heart, love
To see you tryin’ to be a part of
A world that just don’t exist
It’s all just a dream, babe
A vacuum, a scheme, babe
That sucks you into feelin’ like this

I can see that your head
Has been twisted and fed
By worthless foam from the mouth
I can tell you are torn
Between stayin’ and returnin’
On back to the South
You’ve been fooled into thinking
That the finishin’ end is at hand
Yet there’s no one to beat you
No one t’ defeat you
’Cept the thoughts of yourself feeling bad

I’ve heard you say many times
That you’re better ’n no one
And no one is better ’n you
If you really believe that
You know you got
Nothing to win and nothing to lose
From fixtures and forces and friends
Your sorrow does stem
That hype you and type you
Making you feel
That you must be exactly like them

I’d forever talk to you
But soon my words
They would turn into a meaningless ring
For deep in my heart
I know there is no help I can bring
Everything passes
Everything changes
Just do what you think you should do
And someday maybe
Who knows, baby
I’ll come and be cryin’ to you

From Bob Dylan "To Ramona" specially those lines.

I understand, these are a few songs I've gone to in similar moments:

"All Blues," Miles Davis

"Pop Life," Prince and the Revolution

"End of the Day," Beck

"Alright," Kendrick Lamar

"Breathing Underwater," Hiatus Kaiyote

"Bonus Track," Jamiroquai

"Character," Van Hunt

"Zaar," Peter Gabriel

"Dry The Rain," The Beta Band

"Deacon Blues," Steely Dan

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

An unusual choice I know, but it's about dealing with struggle and disappointment.
