2016 R&R Hall of Fame Inductees announced. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year's inductees: Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A and Steve Miller will all join the class of 2016. They will be inducted April 8th during a ceremony at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, with tickets on sale to the public in February. HBO will broadcast the show in the spring. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

- IKR?! Wow. N.W.A. huh? Do they have some secret quota or something where they have to include a Hip Hop act now? I wonder if N.W.A. would've gotten in if "Straight Outta Compton" wasn't a big box office hit.

Yeah, I think it's because they want to have more hiphop acts there.

- What about Chic? They're an American band.

You know how a considerable percentage of people that primarily listen to rock feel about disco.

NWA before Chaka Khan? That's fucked up! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

- Agreed but if you're going to let some of them in gradually, I would think Chic would be one of the first considering their success and influence.

- Agreed. That's | |

CO-SIGN!!! Even though I like NWA, Chaka is one of the all-time greats. If you've got funk, you've got style.

Chaka and Chic still not in
I still think NWA deserves to be inducted. NWA has been highly influential and they even incorporated some Rock elements as well but I don't think they should have gotten in over Chaka and Chic but yall know how the RHOF do and most white organizations. The one black at a time rule. I just thought Janet would be inducted because of her successful year.

I am glad that Chicago is finally getting inducted, but Chic and Chaka Khan deserve to be in there, too

Who decided "rockers" are the king makers on who does and doesn't get into the Hall? I'm waiting for the artist or band who gives the R&R Hall the, . It's all subjective, an artist or bands discography in my humble opinion gives credence to a career.

I agree! I think these artists should stop giving RHOF so much clout when its really all subjective. The fact that Green Day is in the hall but Chaka, Chic, Spinners and Janet is not even in it is a joke

Also, there should be a rejection limit. If an artist has been rejected 3x than they should either: 1. Automatically get in if they are nominated for a fourth time. OR 2. Simply not be eligible for a nomination anymore after an x amount of years. There is no point to constantly nominate an act every year and not induct them. Chic has been rejected 10 times and that is absolutely ridiculous. If they are going to induct them than they need to do it next year, otherwise they need to stop nominating them. Its pretty disrespectful and a waste of time if they are going to nominate just to reject them again and again and again.

Well, Rolling Stone is primarily a rock magazine, or at least it started out that way. Maybe not the modern era so much. If Right On! magazine started a museum, rock acts would be less likely to be inducted. But the Jackson 5 & New Edition would definitely get in and Donny Osmond in a Tiger Beat museum. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Once again YES got screwed. NWA...seriously? Before countless other more deserving bands/artists? I really loathe Jann WIENER and his cronies. The Hall is a joke.

When they had inducted Green Day over WAR I stopped taking it seriously, that was it for me.

RS has never really been that friendly to prog, metal, or southern rock. Their thing is more blues influenced rock like Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, & Stevie Ray Vaughan. I'm surprised Genesis got in, but I think it was primarily the 1980s lineup that got them in, and the "classic" 1970s lineup was put in by default as that version was never really popular in the US. RS did not dig The Eagles that much either, but I guess Wenner changed his view when they reunited in the 1990s. I was just reading that they've still not inducted The Monkeys, Kate Bush, Journey, Kraftwerk.. Devo, or the Doobie Brothers.. BUT some how.. in some strange manner, GREEN DAY of all bands made it in there all ready.. Change it one more time..

That'll never happen with Jann Wenner in charge. He probably still thinks they're a fake band on a TV show, like inducting The Archies. I think the old vaudeville showbiz image Davy Jones had does not help to win points with Wenner either. But Axl Rose copied one of his dance moves and Guns n Roses are inducted. With the Doobies, I don't think they're that fond of Michael McDonald or light rock in general. Their earlier music was part southern rock, which isn't really in the Hall either. Steely Dan is probably the quota act for light rock. Journey was arena rock, another no no. They have as much chance of getting in as Duran Duran. The Monkees were a manufactured boy band - doubt they will ever get inducted. I would be surprised if any boy band gets inducted.

A so-called "boy band" is a singing group. The Monkees were not just singers. Mike Nesmith was one of the originators of country rock and was indirectly responsible for MTV existing. Actually, I'm surprised Steve Miller got in, not to say that he isn't deserving. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
