Depressing news, I just heard this on the radio. I must say I was unaware that Bowie was battling cancer; usually when he was in the news in recent years, it was about new creative output; haven't been keeping up with his personal life.
.
He left us an awesome legacy in music, inspired both his contemporaries as well as artists from younger generations. I hear he passed surrounded by loved ones? That's at least some comfort.
.
R.I.P. Mr. Bowie. Your songs are immortal.
.
I don't want your rhythm without your rhyme

Was just renewing my interest in him after the release of Blackstar. Read some stories about him yesterday evening and listened to some older music, and then just woke up with this sad news. RIP!

Now he is to be honored at Carnegie Hall with a concert featuring the Roots, Cyndi Lauper and the Mountain Goats. The concert, presented by Michael Dorf, who runs City Winery, will take place on March 31.

The performers also include Jakob Dylan, Bettye LaVette, Ann Wilson of Heart, Perry Farrell, and surprise guests. The house band will be put together by Mr. Bowie’s longtime collaborator Tony Visconti, who has worked as a producer for Mr. Bowie since 1969’s “Space Oddity.”

Damn. He's one of those famous people that I remember from my earliest memories. I think Fame was one of the first songs I distinctly remember. Then seeing his career and foray into acting in the 80s. Its crazy he's gone. It's such a massive hole in music and art. RIP sad

OMG this is such a shocker. I am so sad to hear this shocking news like millions of others around the world. David was such a gifted artist with talent beyond his years. He won't be forgotten. His music lives 4ever.

Blessings and condolences to his family and friends

RIP Mr. Bowie

Very surprised to hear the passing of The Rock GOD...Did not know he was battling Cancer...Iman has done interviews and she did not appear "phased" or different...I'm not saying that to say she wasnt "going through something" but based on her appearances i would have never guessed her David was going-through...My Father is a stomach-Cancer survivor and it's a Horrible disease and a Cash-Cow.....David is BEYOND Loved on this Site and his music, memory & Legacy will carry on....
