Best Janet album from each decade and why Come on, let's give it a shot!
80's: Rhythm Nation-love the flow, melodies, hooks, lyrics, dance routines 90's: Velvet rope-love the honesty, rawness, courage, and vulnerability on this album 00's: All for you-love the energy, party vibe, and drama being addressed 10's: Unbreakable (no this isn't her only 10's album) -love the cohesiveness, musical diversity, realness and social issues tackled [Edited 1/3/16 15:41pm]

Rhythm Nation has that edgy NJS sound and the lyrics are way more daring. Velvet Rope is a smooth r&b/dance/pop album. The Janet album from '93 could have been the one I chose since I'm currently in love with this album, but there are tracks on Janet that I always skip. I don't skip any songs on Velvet Rope. All For You is just fun! Title track always lifts my mood. Unbreakable, no matter what anyone says, is an amazing album with Unbreakable's After You Fall always makes me cry. I loved this album since it came out and it's (imo) the best since All For You. What are your favorite songs from each album? you can do anything

Rythm Nation cuz I was a kid and I don't even remember how I could afford to buy the Cassette, but I wore that Shit out until Janet began singing like a demon and the thing popped...LOL....I don't think I had a boom-box..All I had back in those days was a portable cassete player...

80s: Rhythm Nation - Songs are still relevant today. Beautiful ballads and awesome videos. 90s: Janet. - My favorite of hers. An eclectic set of songs, different genres. This is her at her sexiest best! 00s: 20 Y.R. - Her most underrated and underappreciated album. It's close with All For You, but I don't skip any tracks with this one when listening to it. The second half is pretty much a perfect set of tracks in a row. 10s: Unbreakable - What a comeback album! Just perfect from track 1 to the end. Fits in nicely with her other classic works, Control, Rhythm Nation, Janet. & The Velvet Rope.

I kind of agree, but I am not really a fan of her new stuff, just having RN1814, Control, Janet and Velvet Rope and Design of a decade for some reason. I agree Janet is the best of the 90s, but there is some filler. But for the 80s, I am going to go with Control, What have you done for me lately, Nasty girls are great dance tracks and When I think of you is a great ballad. Plus she was only 19/20 when she did this album. Plus it also sounds a bit like a MJ beat to many of the songs and it has the Jam/Lewis production stronger and even has a slight Prince sound. I know she made better and more original albums afterwards, but don't write off Control as it was the big breakthrough for her and is going to 30 years old this year, remembering Janet herself will be 50 in a few weeks. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Control is definitely a raw, funky and fresh classic, and set the blueprint for her future albums in a huge way, it was the beginning of seeing her confidence on record

It was her first album made without her father. Thank God she gained control because the first two he was involved in were... Not so good. you can do anything
