Aretha stunning in surprise Lincoln Center appearance December 17th With a star studded audience that was there to fete the late Ahmet Ertegun and his wife Mica for his contributions to music, Bette Midler was the emcee and the house band was led by Wynton Marsalis, Aretha Franklin came on and played piano and sang two selections. In the audience was: Micahel Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rufus Wainwright, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, Sigourney Weaver, Kid Rock, Lyhor Cohen and many more. Franklin sang "Oh Tannenbaum" in English and German, and "My Cup Runneth Over". She ticked the ivories and sang really well.
