You might be onto something here. Maybe not the bands you named specifically but everything I'm hearing and reading says Coldplay are the headliners for the halftime show. So, more than likely, there's more acts to be announced.

Coldplay are talented, but not something that will put to make that explosive wow factor. Party and Coldplay are two very different things.

I'm excited! the org doesn't gethard for Coldplay which is cool. Butthey have tons of upbeat hits... does no one recall A Sky Full Of Stars? that just came out last year

Wow I'm shocked Coldplay almost gets no love up here.... What was so great about U2's performance anyway? Besides the fact that their songs are classic, the performance itself was nothing extraordinary and the same goes for Springsteen. Imho of course. I have high expectations for this year though =)

Eh their first 2 albums are classics. X&Y is alright and hassome standouts. Viva La Vida is a great great album!Mylo Xylo has some standout pop/rock moments. But i don't really care for the album all that much. I liked the singles off Ghost Stories... restwas a bore.

The new album isa great pop/rock/synth album though. I really like Coldplays upbeat momentsas cheesy as they are.

I never understood theinsane hate Coldplay gets. Or why people hate on Chris Martin so much. I will happily be proven wrong if need be but he'salways nice and polite in interviews. Never seen him bad mouth anyone or get in trouble for doing stupid shit. I really don't know why people hate him so much

I only like some of their songs, which to me, are more exciting to listen to as I order my coffee in a Starbucks, but to have them perform the Superbowl? Snoozefest.

I'm surprised that the NFL is not making this a big, flag waving, all American affair for the 50th anniversary though.

I don't hate Coldplay (I'm far from a fan but I don't hate them) but they simply aren't Halftime Show material, especially for the 50th Super Bowl.

Someone else pointed it out but it's somewhat ironic how this group from the UK is billed as the headlining act for the milestone edition of an annual American event. They won't be performing alone, that's for sure.

Big footie fan here (despite being in the UK) and I thought they might go for more of a multi artisit spectacular seeing as its the 50th Super Bowl...

... having said that I got dragged to the Mylo Xyloto tour by my sister and I gotta admit it was one of the best live shows I've been to. Band had loads of energy, sounded great, crowd were in fine voice, perfect set list pacing. And they've now got a back catalogue stuffed with upbeat songs Hurts Live Heaven, Viva La Vida, Charlie Brown, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, Sky Full of Stars plus all the sing-along tracks like Yellow and In My Place, and some damn fine slow tracks packed with emotion, Fix You. Whether they are as popular in the States as they are in the UK, I don't know.

And as a friend said to me, multi-artist spectaculars tend to be disjointed, messy, and never the sum of their parts. You're better off having one artist putting on a more focused show.
