The Isley Brothers appreciation thread

Now that the Isley Brothers have released a stunning,23-disc box set (which contains most of their albums),I thought it would be a perfect time to reflect and celebrate this incredible band and their music. What are your favorite Isley Brothers songs and albums? Anyone ever seen them in concert? Share your memories and thoughts....

This Friday, the Isley Brothers are releasing a 2-LP vinyl album,Groove With You...Live that was recorded in 1980 but never released.Note that this is the same album that's featured in the box set,but this version has the audience sounds, making it a real "live" album.

‘Groove With You…LIVE!’ presents the original 1980 live mixes including applause, while ‘Wild In Woodstock: The Isley Brothers Live At Bearsville Sound Studio’ offers 2015 remixes from the original masters without applause.

'Go All The Way' is my favorite Isley's LP....

"Here We Go Again" is IMO the greatest Isley's song ever..."Dont Say Goodnight" is their best ballad...

"Hurry Up & Wait" on the Grand Slam LP is my shit too

Love the Isley Brothers. I saw Ernie a few years ago. He can tear it up on the guitar!

"Footsteps In The Dark (Pts. 1 and 2)" came up on one of my playlists today.

One of the most versatile acts of a great era in music.

that amazes me too - that there's very little/no live Isley Brothers video(s)

back when they were at their influencial peak (1972-83)

& had Ernie, Marvin & Chris taking them to that next level.

there HAS to be some video SOMEWHERE

anyway - I'll definitely check out this "groove with you live"

should be some good stuff on that..

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

yeah,I would love to see some live footage from their 70s heyday! I remember seeing them perform live on an episode of Soul Train in 1974 or 75...

because of this thread, ive been listening to the "Winner Takes All" lp all day ...damn...i forgot how good that one was...i played "Grand Slam" and "Go All The Way" so much, im not sure how i gave "Winner Takes All" so little airplay over the years, but yes...its about as good as "Go All The Way"... 'Life In The City' is my new favorite Isley's song of the moment....

Winner Takes All is a great album, but I think it got "lost" in that era. There were so many things going on in 1979 (disco was at its peak) and it seems like that album is sorta underappreciated.

The Isley Brothers are all-time awesome and worth as much hype as one can give. I have road trip memories, listening to their Legacy Rhythm & Soul Series compilation, Volume 3 1976-1996, on my journey to Prince's Minneapolis 07/07/07 concert. So much lively soul!

It's amazing how many top-notch remakes they have done.Their version of "Summer Breeze" (the 1972 Seals and Crofts classic) is extraordinary!! They take that song to new heights. Ernie's guitar solo at the end is mindblowing!!!
