I know that just last month i posted some Killing Joke, but i think their new album(Pylon, in stores now), is such a quality record that i wanted to share a few more songs from it.

As i mentioned in my previous thread(s), KJ have been around for going on 40 years(37, to be exact), and still make quality music. I've also mentioned that they've been an influence on hella bands and people(Helmet, NIN, Fear Factory, Metallica, Soundgarden, Faith No More, My Bloody Valentine, Godflesh, Jane's Addiction, Dave Grohl, Ministry, etc), and their bass player(youth) has been one of the top producers in England(and in Europe), and is good friends with(and has been in a band with)Paul McCartney. He's also good friends with Jimmy Page and a few other 'superstar's'. Same with their singer (Jaz Coleman). He's a multi-instrumentalist, and has conducted orchestra's in Prague and in New Zealand. So, the reason i mention this stuff is because of two reasons. One is because, although Killing Joke have been immensely influential, and one of the most unique bands of the past 30 years, they've never sold a lot of records. Probably their biggest seller was the album Night Time(1985). It probably sold a little over a 100,000 copies, and had the 'hit' song, Love Like Blood. And reason # 2 is, i wanted to show the contrasts between the stuff that they do as Killing Joke, and their solo stuff. Their more recent, heavier stuff(like on Pylon), is not completely indicative of their overall career(as KJ). They've always been hard to categorize and intense(but not necessarily, heavy) as fuk, but their first 6 or 7 albums or so, were more art, dance, menacing, powerful, primitive(somewhat), masterpieces. They didn't develop a pretty passionate following, for nothing.

Anyway, i know that KJ won't appeal to everyone, but for open minded fans of music that's different(and fans of bands like Siouxsie And the Banshees, the first Adam Ant album, The Birthday Party, Gang of Four, PIL, etc)i would absolutely suggest u check KJ out.

Especially the albums Killing Joke(1980, and on the top 1001 albums u should listen to before u die, list, # 465), Whats THIS for..!(1981), Revelations(1982), Night Time(1985), Extremities, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions(1990), Fire Dances(1983), Brighter than a Thousand Suns(1986), Pandemonium(1994), Killing Joke(2003), Pylon, and Absolute Dissent(2010). And out of those, KJ(80), What's This For, Revelations, and Fire Dances, are the more unique ones. And Night Time and Brighter than, are the more atmospheric, new romantic, dance, ones, and the rest are a bit more heavier. Extremities is a masterpiece, and Pandemonium has techno, industrial, influences, and is also a masterpiece(IMO).
