Since they're doing this era, I'd rather see Zhane or Digable Planets than H-Town. Maybe Brand New Heavies.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

One hit song doesn't warrant an Unsung episode. Bad choice.

I will not sit here and let you all talk about Houston's own H-Town.

They were not 1 hit wonders. They had three top 40 Pop Hits and six top 20 R&B hits in a three year span.

Compared to Lakeside, they never hit the Pop top 40 (Fantastic Voyage highest at #55) and equalled H-Towns six top 20 R&B showings, in the span of seven years.

Take That! lol

I think X-Clan or PM Dawn would be more interesting than him (or Arrested Development for that matter and they've had an episode)

Don't know, but I saw him speaking on the Kid n Play episode. I think I saw him on another one too, maybe Heavy D or Big Daddy Kane

Why Dino always sung gritty like he was on the toilet taking a crap?

Him and Lyfe Jennings would have made a good team.

This one should be interesting but it'll probably be sad too. I vaguely remember that one of the group members died violently a few years ago.

What are you talking about? CMB had a black member Kevin Thornton & a Latino too - Mark Calderon. At any rate, they were on TV last night with Brad Paisley.

Lol, but foreal. I know people remember their cover of "Thin Line Between Love & Hate" from the movie with Martin Lawrence. And also the songs "They Like It Slow" and "Emotions."

Damn I forgot about Emotions. I used to like Part Time Lover.
If you not too busy baby lol
Dino had that grunting lazy flow.
Didn't Roger Troutman hook them up on Thin Line?

The best part of this video was the teaser graphic at the end that said that Tanya Morgan would be interviewed on the Oct. 27 (last Tues.) show. For those that don't know, Tanya Morgan is a great hip hop group out of Brooklyn. Check out there last joint- "Rubber Souls".

Sorry to derail this thread...

Didn't they show this a lot on Bounce TV? Maybe not since Richard Pryor wasn't in it. razz

Yeah I remember one of the guys at the end stating he never listened to the whole
record and don't plan to. I don't think I could either. The lyrics were very
haunting.

Wasn't it, boy talk about a premonition! After the show, I looked up the song on youtube and listened to it in it's entirety, and it was just so sad.

Really sad episode. He had a nice voice though. Very Johnny Gill like. I know it's not everytime but it seems the lead singers are always the first to go. Again NOT ALWAYS. but it does seem that way.

Agreed. Good and balanced participation from Luke as well.

Don't know if it's been suggested here, but Luke really deserves his own Unsung. Didn't realize how much there was to his career until watching the H-Town Unsung and then, a few hours later, catching the 30-For-30 on ESPN about Univ. of Miami back in the day.

But yeah, H-Town's was a good Unsung.
