Top 500 Songs of All Time I stumbled across a very cool list compiled by a non-critic that impressed me with its diversity, to the point of wanting to share it with the org community. I was pulled into it because among the 500 songs is AWB's School Boy Crush, which is a fav of mine and I posted a comment if you care to see my little story about it. Anyway here is the list from a poster only identified as Mike. Let me know what you think, or if you could pull off something as bold as he did and present it with such flair. I could definitely come up with the 500 and some of them would overlap his, but not sure I have the skills or patience to post it like that. Enjoy: http://500favesongs.blogspot.com/ If you've got funk, you've got style.

Put together by someone who is clearly a HUGE music enthusiast with uncommonly deep and diverse taste. To me that makes it more interesting than a Rolling Stone list, which would never be as funky as this one is anyway. If you've got funk, you've got style.

Quite an impressive collection of songs and insight for each. His little commentary on all of Prince songs are funny.

Yeah this is a cool list with a nice mix of genres and styles, his/her tastes often mirror my own in many ways and I like the time and effort they've obviously put in to writing each entry. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

These threads just present themselves as opportunities for people to showcase and/or brag

Now that would be a tougie since I am not a huge fan of insects. I guess butterflies are OK and praying mantises are kind of cool. If you've got funk, you've got style.

Not about bragging, at least for me, but about sharing opinions on art. Isn't that one of the purposes of art, to stimulate observation and discussion? And also the hope is in putting forth something like this that it helps connect you with those of similar tastes or initiates engrossing debate, as well as puts out there potentially enjoyable listens for discovery to those unfamiliar with some of the tunes. The point about about it becoming essentially meaningless after 10 is more applicable to albums than songs IMO given there are so many of them. I do agree 500 is a bit much though. If you've got funk, you've got style.

. See the other two are OK but I was really blown away by "What's So Great About It" with the minimal production and shockingly mature content for a pop song, especially his referencing the daisy chain I didn't think kids these days thought about that type of explicit stuff anymore. I'm really looking forward to his next one "When Do We Get There".
