R.I.P Scott Weiland

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this makes me really sad. I love Stone Temple Pilots first 4 albums to death. Scott was supposed to play in my hometown in just a few weeks. Me and my sister joked about going to see him to witness how messy it would be. Then this happens /: addiction is a hell of a disease man.

Scott Weiland, Former Singer of Stone Temple Pilots, Dead at 48: Report

Scott Weiland, the former frontman for rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, had died, according to reports.

Dave Navarro, guitarist and member of Jane's Addiction, tweeted at 9:01 p.m. PST "our friend Scott Weiland has died."

Billboard has not confirmed the death of the singer, who turned 48 on Oct. 27. Weiland long suffered from substance abuse issues.

The story is developing.

"Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts," a post on Weiland's Facebook page reads. "At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott's family be respected."

His lyrics were often obtuse and probably drug-fueled but I found them interesting. He also had
rock's prettiest voice, if you ask me.

Tiny Music... is a masterpiece.

Agreed, brilliant voice. Neck and neck with Chris Cornell for the best voice of the grungy rockers of the 80'/90's, I reckon!

Interstate Love Song is a very fond piece of my youth.

Rest peacefully. He was a great talent and on one level, I'm relieved his struggles are over.

Stone Temple Pilots' Open Letter to Scott Weiland
Dear Scott,
Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.
Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.
The memories are many, and they run deep for us.
We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again.
It’s what made you who you were.
You were gifted beyond words, Scott.
Part of that gift was part of your curse.
With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.
All of our love and respect.
We will miss you brother,
Robert, Eric, Dean

Cocaine Found on Scott Weiland's Tour Bus

Dec 2015

Cocaine was found in the bedroom of the tour bus where Scott Weiland body was found, according to a report from the Bloomington Police Department in Minnesota. Weiland was found dead on the bus Thursday evening.

"Detectives collected several items of evidence from inside the tour bus, to include a small quantity of suspected controlled substance that field tested positive as cocaine, in the bedroom where Mr. Weiland was located," reads the report.

"Detectives recovered an additional small quantity of suspected controlled substance that field tested positive as cocaine, in the area of the tour bus known to be occupied by Thomas Delton Black, a traveling member of Weiland's party."

Black is a member of Weiland's band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts. The report says that Black has been arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

As for an official cause of death, the report says that there's "no information at this time."

Interesting. I saw another report that it was crack cocaine that was found. Seems interesting that this article above doesn't mention that it was crack...

Very sad and even sadder is trying to break an addiction, which is an everyday fight, people don't really understand those things. Some people can quit Cold Turkey and some just can't, but also a huge factor is the people you have around you, Scott's surroundings were not always those you need around you when trying to stay away from drugs. He did stop Heroin in 2002 but it was said Cocaine then came into the picture in 2007. Alot from that era just were angry adolescent kids when they dove into music and the scene, then money came in and what does money often bring, that element of friends and drugs etc....Some can steer clear and finding a "grounding" like say Dave Grohl or Eddie Vedder both married with Kids or some just burn out now Scott is on that list.

One of very few early '90s talents who contributed anything worth the listen. Very achy loss.

Anyone who is a fan of Scott should check out the brilliant Art of Anarchy album he did with GNR guitarist Ron Bumblefoot Thal earlier in the year. Probably the best rock album I've heard since Chinese Democracy.

RIP Scott Weiland. Thankyou for the beautiful music.

I have been reading up on that record lately, apparently the band minus Scott were talking in an interviews about being a band and Scott was the lead singer. Scott denied they were a band, he said they just had some songs for me to sing on and I did it, but we are not a band. ANd they started to distance themselves from Scott.

But Scott was full of shit, because he filmed two music videos and did various photoshoots with the band. Why would he agree to do those things if he was just a session musician? I think he was cheesed off that Art of Anarchy was coming out at the same time as his solo album, and wanted to focus more on his own thing, so he distanced himself from the AOA project. But he was clearly a part of it at some point, regardless of what he said afterwards.

Either way, it's a bloody good record. One of the best rock albums I've heard in years. I play it daily.
