What's with the "Jackson"??? Anyway, this was the best performance of the night! There is a book on the Grammy Awards, can't recall the name of it. The chapter on the 27th Grammy Awards, the author stated if it wasn't for Tina being the most anticipated performance of the night, Chaka definately would have had that honor. And being Chaka was plagued with vocal issues around this particular time period, she scored a touchdown with this incredible performance! OMG! That gigantic hair!!!!!

She owns this song. Truly a "cover" that makes you forget the original.

I laughed years later when I saw practically the same type of wig on Christina Agularia and, I believe, Beyonce. Just in different colors.

Yup! He recorded his first album listening to nothing but Ask Rufus, so at least he appreciated her recording.

Hmmmm. That's an interesting tidbit I had never heard before. When Chaka was on the Rosie O'Donnell show a while ago, she talked about how she first met Prince. She didn't mention the year, I'm assuming late 70's. She said she received a phone call from who she thought was Sly Stone. He told her to meet him at the studio (probably so they could get high) lol. When she got there, the only person she saw as Prince, she had no idea who he was at the time. She asked him, "Where's Sly"? He said, "You're talking about that phone call? That was me". lol Of course she was infuriated.

I have to say the official "I Feel For You" made me grow up feeling that rapping and breakdancing was VERY mainstream. It even showed a DJ with two turntables. I'll probably never know how much that affected my world view. Well, I do know that I went to daycare and tried scratching a storybook record.
