It was these guys who had originally come out with that "sound" that is alleged that Flyte Tyme copped for "Just Be Good To Me," "Just The Way You Like It" and "Borrowed Love" by the S.O.S. Band. "Don't Stop The Music" and "Don't Waste My Time" have that Roland Drum Machine thing goin' on throughout. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Don't Stop the Music hit 1980 while Jam and Lewis crafted the similar sound for the S.O.S around 1982. Some people have mistaken Don't Stop The Music as a S.O.S song before. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I love Yarbrough and Peoples! They had several great singles in the 80s...."Don't Stop The Music","Feels So Good","Heartbeat","Don't Waste Your Time","Guilty",etc....they deserve much more recognition for their excellent, funky singles.

Plenty. Lonnie Simmons screwed them the same way he screwed the Gap Band. He wouldn't even pay them from touring. There is even more juicy stuff. I'll let you watch. Don't laugh at my funk

A lot of stuff sounded similar, yet had an original unique feel to it. Stuff by Hush productions, Leon Sylvers, Aurra, D-Train, ect all had that sound. [Edited 9/2/15 23:22pm] PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever ----- Live Your Life How U Wanna Live It

I figured Lonnie Simmons wouldn't be on it, too much dirt I guess

Truth, phunkdaddy! Lonnie Simmons' sound was "jacked," BUT, Jam & Lewis took it 2 a whole nutha level! Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I enjoyed it. Didn't know that Cavin had all of those drug demons. Would have never guessed it...and Ms Peoples looks great. She looks the same as she did in 1984...I spit out my water laughing when I saw that clip of Ice T.

I don't know. As far as I am aware "Don't Stop The Music" was the start of that particular sound (drummachine, chugging synth bassline, a bit of funk guitar, lots of synths and RnB vocals on top). It wouldn't suprise me at all if Jam & Lewis used this song as a blueprint for their own productions. At the very least they must have liked that song A LOT and influenced them, perhaps without realising it themselves. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
