The "Brandy" Album only made it to #20 on the Pop Charts?..Wow...I remember Pop-Rock stations playing her singles and always praising on her "Pre-Taylor Swift" image....I hope "Brandy" made it to the Top 5 on The R&B charts...

I don't remember her citing Janet in the I dedicate interludes, mainly Whitney and 70s r&b. But I hear the influence from the Janet album in songs like I wanna be down, broken-hearted , best friend

She did cite Janet as an influence in the I dedicate interlude.

Apparently John Frusciante (ex RHCP guitarist) is a big fan of hers. He that the vocal arrangements on the Afrodisiac album influenced his guitar multi-tracking on the Chili's Stadium Arcadium album. So, Brandy's reach is farther than you might think!
