90's Flashback; pop-rock females

While I've noticed a lot of people remembering the music of the 1970's and 1980's fondly as eitrher groundbreaking or even just fun, I don't sense as much love for the 1990's. Granted, for most of the decade it was either dominated by grunge groups like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc., or by gangsta rap (Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, Wu-Tang Clan, etc.). But not all of the music was downbeat grunge, angry hip-hop, or overemoting divas like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion; there were some other acts making waves during that decade.

There was this piano-paying songstress.

And this woman was pining for someone to be her significant other.

And this former member of Eurythmics was asking the ultimate question.

And this song sounded like it could have been some type of dream.

And while this group had a couple of original alt-rock hits, they were probably best known for this Rolling Stones cover.

And this woman had her one and only mega-hit twenty years ago as she pondered the existence of God.

And this Ausitralian actress turned signer found herself ripped apart over a romantic entanglement.
