SoulAlive	I think that Going Places is a slightly disappointing album.It's not terrible...it's just not as strong as the previous album.Seems like Gamble and Huff were on autopilot in 1977.That same year,they produced an O'Jays album Travelin' At The Speed Of Thought that was also very mediocre.

I LOVE Blues Away that is my favorite!!! music Also Keep on Dancing, Show You The Way To Go, Enjoy Yourself, Dreamer, Think Happy.... Such a GREAT album smile

I bet Motown was pissed,though smile They leave that label,sign with Epic,and release one of their greatest albums there.

That's Motown's fault for not giving them creative control over their music and dictating the group's style and sound. Motown put them on the map and shot them to stardom but CBS/ Epic gave them better guidance moving forward and license to craft their own music. If it were not for Motown, they never would have made it to that level but later into their tenure with the label, they were being stifled.

The Jacksons' time at Motown had simply expired and it was time for the boys to move on and further develop elsewhere. At Epic they dropped 5 great albums, 1 strong debut that lengthened their staying power, 2 bonafide classics, 1 definitive commercial success, and 1 underrated foray into a new genre. I haven't listened to their Motown albums but from what I know, The Jacksons discography > The Jackson 5 discography.
