It really was a good interview. Excellent questions and D seemed very open with his answers. I was hoping for a little acappella too.

I did appreciate him talking about how his spirituality informs his music. D'Angelo is real. I already knew that from his albums but this was the first interview I've ever seen. I was not dissapointed. Part 2 on record!

I am VERY proud of D'angelo. He spoke very well. Also gave a very respectable tribute to mine & his musical idol....

I do think it's cool when artists freely acknowledge their influences and heroes. D never hides his love for Prince. Has Prince ever said anything about D? I would love to hear them get together for at least one song.

He mentions D'Angelo in the latest Ebony interview promoting HitNRun. And on the Emancipation album on the track "Get Your Groove On" he mentions D'angelo by name. It's safe to say Prince is a fan. I don't think I'd wanna hear them sing together though but if Prince were to write and produces couple of tracks for D or if Prince collaborated with Questlove for a few tracks for his own album.

Part 2 was fairly interesting. Didn't learn anything new and Tavis asked uncharacteristically dull questions.

I felt Tavis asked questions that any true D'angelo fan wanted to know. Particularly with me on his fasination with ...Also his pentecostal upbringing,& the real reason for his "Untitled" negativity thoughts. Which are ALL the root of who he is as an artist.

Cool interview. Didn't realize until a few minutes in that I've seen many interviews with him.

His gospel roots were never far from his sound.

Somebody correct me, but if my memory serves me correctly, he was jamming on stage with Sting during the parade tour, and at one point he signaled the band midway through the song and flipped into another song that Sing didn't recognize which I'm pretty sure left him frustrated & embarrassed.

That's what I was thinking too.

It was a decent interview. Tavis irritated me by asking his redundant questions though. To me, he asked questions expecting to receive an "expected" response....I think that's why D would pause a whole lot before answering. Otherwise, it was cool to see D calm, cool and collected.
