SLASH Confirms He And AXL ROSE Are Friends Again: 'It Was Probably Way Overdue'
Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has confirmed that he has rekindled his friendship with the band's lead singer Axl Rose — six years after the frontman called him "a cancer."
Speaking to Aftonbladet TV in Sweden, where Slash was making a special appearance on Friday (August 21) for a launch event for the Marshall London phone, the guitarist said of his restored relationship with Axl (see video below): "It was probably way overdue, you know. But it's…. you know, it's very cool at this point. You know, let some of that, sort of, negative… dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long."
Asked if his warmer relationship with Axl will lead to a reunion of GUNS N' ROSES' classic lineup, Slash said: "Oh, I couldn't answer that one, though…" Pressed on why that is, Slash replied: "All right, let's get off the subject, 'cause, you know, that's an old one."
Edit: There is also a video on Blabbermouth. Slash really confirmed it.
Not that there is any meaning to it, but about 3 weeks ago Slash, Duff, Matt and Gilby played a gig together in Hollywood. Only one person was missing for a UYI Tour reunion.

Considering Axl recently lost two of his guitarists, what other options does he have? He can't keep changing bandmembers like he changes ... eh, you get the idea. And with his on-again-off-again vocals being far more off-again the past couple years, I can't picture him recording new music as a solo artist or under the G'NR name.
At this point Axl realizes he needs Slash if he wants to continue his career. Slash recently removed a huge reunion obstacle on his end, his soon-to-be-ex-wife Perla. Now if Axl can finally fire that Slash-hating Beta Lebeis I think there'll be nothing stopping a tour reunion. "Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. They start shit, you finish it. Go down to their level, that's the only way they'll understand. You have to handle things yourself." |

Why was Perla a reunion obstacle? |

Well. Of course he can. Nobody is going to those shows because of the guitarists. The question is, whether he wants to keep changing guitarists. I guess it really depends on what his long term plans are. He's got a functioning band, which he probably doesn't want to sacrifice for a reunion, that most likely would only be temporary. After a reunion, his New-GNR project certainly is dead. He won't pull in the numbers anymore he does now. But then again, he's 53. I don't really see him touring for another 10 to 15 years, so it would make sense to cash in one last time with a reunion that could last 2 to 3 years, give the fans what they want and bow out on a high playing stadiums across the world, instead of limping on with substitutes.
What does Perla have to do with a reunion not happening? That woman started out as a GNR groupie. |

Why was Perla a reunion obstacle?
She has a deep hatred for Axl and has repeatedly trashed Axl publicly. She also likes to have a presence in just about everything Slash does, but if Axl and Slash and the rest of GN'R got back together the wives would not be allowed to be around ... Perla would never accept that.

I'm actually pretty shocked by all this. But i have some bad feelings if a ''reunion tour'' were to happen. Like it would end up like Van Halen & turn to shit Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

A full on reunion tour with Duff and the rest of the boys would be the nuts!!
If they can keep it together long enough of course, which I doubt. And it would be a kick in the nuts for Miles Kennedy whose been doing fantastic work with Slash the last few years. |

In the past Axl has expressed skepticism about being able to depend on Izzy for a lengthy tour, and rightfully so. If Steven were to slip back into drug/alcohol abuse they could easily replace him with Sorum or someone else, but Izzy would be tough to replace.
As for Myles, he's still got his other band Alter Bridge so it's not like he'd be twittling his thumbs.
But yeah, a reunion tour would be THE biggest moneymaker in music history ... unless Zep ever gets back together, which is even more doubtful.

i saw GNR in 91, Wembley Stadium. Izzy's last concert with the band. the beginning of the end. I hope it doesn't happen. Axle is a prick. Slash is a legend. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo
