I was afraid that it will get boring after 24 hours, but no. I think I like it even more now. Can't waith a whole thing, even a though it's not even confirmed as a next single. Janet is tricky, so you never know.

Imagine how cool would be to open MTV VMA with this! cool

Janet Jackson Pens Heartfelt Note to Aaliyah on 14th Anniversary of Her Death

CELEBRITY NEWSAUG. 25, 2015 AT 6:49PM

More than a decade after her death, Aaliyah's star still shines just as bright as ever. Twitter lit up with tributes in her honor on Tuesday, Aug. 25, which marked 14 years since the late singer died in a plane crash at age 22. Like many other fans and friends, Janet Jackson took to the site to pay her respects, sharing a heartfelt, handwritten note to the performer.

"I know u r there shining down on me," the "Rhythm Nation" hitmaker captioned a photo of the note, which read, "What I shared with u [is] ever sacred, everlasting, [and] it's pure and it will endure. I love u Aaliyah. #RIP"

Prior to her death in 2001, the "Are You That Somebody" singer planned to work with Jackson, whom she often cited as one of her idols and biggest musical influences.

"I am a huge fan of Janet," Aaliyah told Rosie O'Donnell in 1997. "I try to mention her in every interview because I want to meet her and maybe at some point in my career collaborate with her."

The admiration turned out to be mutual. A duet with the young princess of R&B was on Jackson's wish list, too -- but Aaliyah died before they could make it happen.

Shortly after the Romeo Must Die actress' passing, Jackson honored her in concert, dedicating the song "Come Back to Me" in her memory. She was also part of a tribute to Aaliyah at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, which took place less than two weeks after the singer's fatal plane crash.

Taking the stage before Missy Elliott, Timbaland, and Ginuwine, Jackson read a letter that was sent to MTV by one of the star's fans. "I, for one, will not be sad or mourn her death, but celebrate her life and be thankful for her gift that's touched so many," the fan wrote. "We haven't lost anyone. We've only gained an angel."

Jackson later spoke about Aaliyah in a 2006 interview, recalling their first and only meeting, which had been orchestrated by mutual pal Missy Elliott.

"I really felt like we were gonna become really good friends," she said. "What a sweet girl, and one of the most stunning-looking women I have ever seen in my life in person. Just absolutely gorgeous. And she's very much so missed."

I can't believe it's starting in a matter of days and there are no hints of what's to come, nor some kind of major promo wheel starting.

So weird! I hope it's not because there's something amiss. I guess most of us will just have to check social media once it starts. Heaven forbid we actually be surprised by anything anymore. biggrin

6 things we now know about Janet Jackson's new album, thanks to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis

-

Janet Jackson’s forthcoming album Unbreakable is one of the most hotly-anticipated releases of the fall and long-awaited in more ways than one. In addition to it being the first Janet album in seven years (her previous album was 2008’s Discipline), it’s also the first time that the singer has worked with longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in nearly a decade (they last appeared on 2006’s 20 Y.O.).

Jam and Lewis have often felt like extensions of Janet herself, as they have helped craft her sound going all the way back to 1986’s game-changing Control and subsequent masterpieces like Rhythm Nation 1814, janet., The Velvet Rope, and All For You. Their return is part of the reason why Unbreakable is such a topic of conversation.

But another reason why there’s so much fervor surrounding Janet Jackson’s new album is the relative veil of secrecy that has surrounded it. We already know a handful of facts about it: We’ve heard the first single “No Sleeep” (and also seen the video), we know there’s also a song called “The...orever,” and we know that there’s a huge tour on the horizon. But thanks to a recent conversation EW had with Jam and Lewis, we now know a few more things about the new album.

“No Sleeep” almost didn’t make it.

The album’s first single began as something of an afterthought. “ ‘No Sleeep’ was basically called that because it was like five in the morning, and we had just completed a day of work and I was still awake, so I was playing around with some different stuff and came up with the skeleton of it,” explains Jam (whose birth name is James Harris III). The sliver of a tune was filed away until Lewis went looking for something on Jam’s computer and ran across the file. “He hit this track and it came on blasting, and Janet said, ‘Ooh, what’s that?’ I told her it was a track I did like two months ago, and she was like, ‘You didn’t play that for me!’ It wasn’t done, it was just kind of an idea,” Jam says. “So Terry asked me for a melody, and it evolved from there. Janet loved it—just the feeling that she got when she heard it is the feeling she wanted the fans to have. Just a warm, welcoming, sensual feel. But it was almost forgotten.”

-

There’s a song called “Night.”

The re-discovery process the trio of Jackson, Jam, and Lewis went through on “No Sleeep” showed up again when working on another song, and it ultimately hinged on Jackson’s physical reaction. “We did another song that’s just called ‘Night.’ We never really had an ending for it,” says Jam. “So I got this idea for an ending and told her about it. I worked on it a little bit, then I gave it to Terry, and we were playing her some stuff just to show her where we were at, and when that ending came on that she hadn’t heard, it was the same thing: huge smile, dancing around the room. She loved it. To me, as a collaborator, that’s to me the best feeling in the world when you get something that moves her like that. That’s what you want.”

Janet already had the Unbreakable concept in mind when she began working.

The sessions for the new album originated with Jackson explaining an idea for a concept with Jam and Lewis. “She revealed to us what her concept was, and as we always do, we just began making music,” says Lewis. “We don’t try to directly flesh out a concept until that time comes. We just try to get creative and start recording and do what feels good musically. She came with the concept, and that became the beginning theme of where we started.”

The album’s lyrics come from a deeply personal place.

Lewis says the Unbreakable idea will be wide-ranging and allow for Jackson to express quite a bit of herself. “It’s such a broad concept,” he explains. “You can think of it many different ways. Some people think of unbreakable as being hard, but I think unbreakable is just being able to be vulnerable and to be able to withstand what comes to you. She’s lived a lot of life in the last few years.”

The tour and the album were often being conceived concurrently.

Jam notes that there were days, particularly toward the end of the sessions for the album, that would find Janet working all day in rehearsals for the stage show and then reporting to the studio to finalize ideas for the record.

Unbreakable sounds unlike any past Janet Jackson album.

Both Jam and Lewis believe that fans will be surprised at the different versions of Jackson that show up on the album, but ultimately she’ll still be holding everything together. “I think it’s totally different from any of her other albums,” says Jam. “But it feels like her. At the end of the day, I go back to that. The thing about this album is there’s a lot of different places that it touches, but at the end of the day, it’s pure Janet.”

I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't have a song or a verse or something dedicated to her late brother Michael somewhere on the album. She's experienced quite a lot since her last album. She should have plenty to talk/sing about. Not to mention the world we live in now and all that's going on in it. I look forward to it.

I personally hate the "Unbreakable" title and agree with others it sounds cheesy. It also reminds me of MJ's song and I personally think that is why she named the tour and album after that name. Similiar when she called her Discipline tour, Rock Wit U in 2007/8. I don't think these are "coincidental titles". Its a nice lil tribute to her brother but I personally think "Conversations in a Cafe" is a much more interesting, edgy and creative title. I wonder why she changed it?

I really hope their "I've been listening" theme ties in well with the new project. As of now, I think the "cafe" is social media. But I guess we'll see what it all suppose to mean whenever the album drops. They've done a masterful job in generating anticipation and interest in another Janet Jackson album again. So, kudos for that. My hope now is that the music makes it all worth the wait.

This is an old tweet. I posted it to show that "Conversations in a Cafe" was the original album title. In addition, Janet and some of her music associates/ engineers were hash tagging it on twitter in May, it wasn't that long ago. I wonder why she changed it.

I think regardless overall people are interested in seeing her. Whether via interview, movie, performance etc because she has been out of the spotlight for some time but Janet has always been like this even during her peak in the 90's. Its the oldest Jackson trick in the book and it always works. Some of the newer stars should take some notes. It is not good to overexposed yourself in the spotlight it eventually backfires.

confuse Ya know, it may have only ever been the title of an interlude track, not the album.
