Zapp VI - Back By Popular Demand Anyone listened to this? Obviously made after Roger died. Any good tracks on it? |

Don't care for it myself, but had to dl it to see if it was any good (out of curiosity). The only song that has the old school Zapp vibe is Get Up Off The Wall. The whole thing lacks Roger's direction. Didn't help that the artwork was/is awful. Don't think you're missing anything by avoiding it. Although, it seems like everyone except me didn't like Roger's last album (Bridging the Gap). So what do I know.

I LOVE Bridging The Gap, and especially love the songs that David Gamson co-produced with Roger such as "Take Me Back". His synth work is sublime and compliments Roger beautifully. I'm a big fan of both Roger and Scritti Politti so of course I love that album. Thanks for your feedback regarding Zapp 6 - I'll listen for the track you mentioned. |

Agree with everything you mentioned about Gamson, Scritti and Bridging the Gap. That's one of the reasons I bought BTG back in the day. I was/am a HUGE Scritti fan. As much as I really appreciate Green Gartside, a big part of my love for them was Gamson's synth/keyboard work. He's up there with guys like David Frank and Kashif, in terms of how much their keyboard-oriented work was so inventive and influential. Also wish Gamson would produce another full Scritti album, beyond the two great tunes he produced on Green's/Scritti's international greatest hits a few years ago.

Definitely - Gamson is integral to the Scritti sound. They aren't as interesting without him.
And yes - David Frank is another synth legend - and I'm proud to say a friend of mine. We've worked together recently (myself and my cousin, with both David and Mic Murphy), but I don't want to say too much until we announce it officially I'll definitely post about it here when I can:) |

Wow! That's seriously cool! Would love to let them know how much I appreciate them recording/releasing System Overload (despite, I'm sure, pretty minimal quantities sold). Only have that one through iTunes, so I'm gonna have to purchase a FLAC version through their bandcamp site. System Overload is much closer to their older sound than ESP was. I thought ESP was WAY too slow. Look foward to hearing your collaboration with them.
