Let's go over this again.....

Janet is a "veteran artist".Just like Madonna,Prince,Mariah,Bruce Springsteen,Tina Turner,etc.

Radio doesn't really embrace new singles from veteran artists.Their songs might get a few spins, but let's face it....radio only cares about the young,"hot" artists.Yes,Cher had the biggest hit single of her career at age 53 ("Believe") but that's not likely to ever happen again.

Are we clear on that? lol

It doesn't matter what a veteran artist releases. It still won't get radio support. How many artists over 50 do you see in the Top 100 singles chart? It has nothing to do with the quality of their singles.

Gorgeous little joint! "No Sleeep" seems 2 mix the sounds of "70's Love Groove" and "That's The Way Love Goes" 4 me. Sadly, it's not the 80's or 90's anymore and the last time she broke BIG with Flyte Tyme was with 2001's "All For You." Hopefully, once the album drops and the tour commences, she'll see some "pickup" action. LOVE the song tho! smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Hell, I doubt there's any real jams on it anyway. After "Rhythm Nation", she became as generic sounding as everyone else. She needs to work with Nile Rodgers. He could give her some jams. Of course, they probably wouldn't make it onto the radio but at least she would be jamming.

Prince will NEVER play the game properly at this point. He'll be releasing 1-off singles with no promotion for the rest of his career lol So don't expect hits from a guy who gives as few fucks as him

Madonna's "Bitch I'm Madonna" track was released just a little while before "No Sleeep" and peaked only at No. 84... several spots lower than Sleeep. So I'm not expecting much from her anymore either

Bruce had/has crazy album sales, but only a few hits here and there after Born In The USA (which was more of an exception album). His last charting single was around the time as Prince's last

Tina Turner hasn't had a charting song since 1996

And Mariah is relatively newer. I have a feeling "Beautiful" became a hit because Miguel was on it, but maybe not. Either way, she's probably the only one from the list who will have a hit in the future

wink

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

It would have been a good idea several years ago when she was wasting her time
with Jermaine Dupri but I dont think the public at large can stomach Janet sounding like Chic or the stuff he is doing with Daft Punk.

Veteran artists shouldn't be focusing on singles anymore. It's a losing battle. They should just release an album and go on tour.Keep it simple. Many veteran artists have more successful tours than the young, hot artists who dominate the charts. In fact,Madonna's recent tours are more successful and more lucrative than the tours she did in her heyday.I think it's the same case with U2.

Maze has been using this model for two decades without any new music and black
folks have been super loyal to them. I remember reading an article on Frankie Beverly about 10 years ago when he said that it used to bother him that Maze wasn't being recognized like other groups and he said now those groups want
what they have. He also referred to Maze fans as the black Grateful Dead fans. lol
