Vanity....you're a hip chick....Madonna....you're a hip chick

I remember this song biggrin but to be honest,I wasn't too crazy about the uptempo tracks on this album. It was the slower songs ("Two Occasions","Shoot Em Up Movies") that made this album worth buying, imo.

I never liked Two Occasions. I'm sorry that song just belonged on a Babyface pre For the Cool

In You solo album. It would have fit right in on Tender Love. I love Shoot Em Up Movies though.

I like Dee's vocals on Hip Chic. I thought Can You Dance was a typical Deele uptempo song.

I actually bought that 45 but never bought the album. The album title track actually reminds me

of a latter day TLC song.

lol

This song was just too sugary for my taste and did not seem to

fit the Deele. Can you imagine this song on the Deele's funk drenched

first album? It's cool that the song propelled LA and Face production

career to newer heights but I always looked at this song as weak.

I know it's just my opinion and I may be in the minority but I just don't

like it. I even dig some of Face's other ballads like Whip Appeal and

Soon As I Get Home From Work better.

I also think that music was changing by the time the Deele released Eyes

Of A Stranger that's why Two Occasions worked right with the everchanging guard of R&B artists crossing over to pop radio and Adult

Contemporary. That's why this song worked and Can You Dance didn't.

Can You Dance would have been a hit for the Deele if they would have

released this in 1983 as the lead single off their debut album.

I think "Can U Dance" sounded kinda dated for 1987.You're right,it would have worked better if it had been on the first album.

speaking of The Deele....they did another album after this one.It was released in 1993 but it didn't feature Face and LA (who were,by that point, the top R&B production duo).Anyone ever heard this album? Was it any good?

Yes the primary lead vocalists Carlos and Dee did a final Deele album for Solar
as a duo. Never heard it until a few years ago and it stunk. They did what a lot
of other artists did at the time and try to change with the times. The album was
a lot of New Jack and it just didn't work.

Was there any production by LA and Face? It seems that, after they started producing all those hit songs for others, they said "Adios, guys" and totally forgot about the Deele, lol
