Start with their 1970 debut album East Bay Grease headbang

then check out the next three albums: Bump City,Tower Of Power and Back To Oakland

Those four albums are their best work, imo.

They also recorded an excellent 'live' album in the mid-70s....it's called Live And In Living Color. That one is a must-have too!

extend that with Urban Renewal and In The Slot and I'm on board
Only so much Oil is my absolute fave by them, driving heavy soulful funk, it does not get better than that!

and you can save quite some bucks if you get this 5 CD set

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

excellent value for money. 5 CDs for the price of 1.
though my wife would not really believe me when I told her "Look how much money I saved!" and then showed her this razz

even though I have probably more than half on vinyl (or CD) already it's a great opportunity to fill some gaps in the collection. Sony has also some nice 5-packs (O'Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Stanley Clarke etc.) but nowhere as fruitful as the series above
