Love it and I love Joi. Much better fit for the band.

Why don't anyone like Kendra? It's almost as bad as the constant negativity toward Shelby J, who also sung backup for D....

I LOVE Kendra. I call her the Funk Angel.

I love Kendra too. I think you'll find that seemingly constant negativity towards her is actually coming from just one person here.

(For the record, I'd say it's been since at least 2002 when Prince had a live show that was as good as D's!)

LIES! The highest grossing Musicology tour in 2004 was kick ass and on point. Please STOP with your prince insults! D had 15 YEARS to come back strong. Performing live now is an artist bread & butter.

D had one more chance to bring it or go back in seclusion. D obviously studied prince's concert tour bootlegs and perfected his live act modeled after his idol. Even going as far as recruiting Jesse and even John B. @ one point. The muziq, The stage show, and the threads are ALL modeled after prince down to his gestures and dance moves. D incorporated all of that perfectively in his shows.

Plus it doesn't hurt D's vocals are still top notch live if not better.

Agreed, His vocals are always tops to me on record as well as live. Most artist these days can't deliver live what they put on record.

Shelby J can sinng!!!!! LOVE her. Kendra cannot. She is also always trying to be front and center and take the spotlight. Kendra doesn't get that she is not the star. Joi knows what it means to be a backup singer and act accordingly. She doesn't do random and distracting ballet dances onstage like Kendra did.

Full video (I think-haven't seen it yet in entirety) of the show in Poland:

I listened to the first 33 minutes of this and it didn't do anything for me. The first minute was the best, IMHO. Dude is a decent musician but can't sing to save his life, and IMO is about 25 years behind Prince when it comes to chops.

When I saw D a few weeks ago. She wasn't getting much love from the audience. But I liked her & also thought she sounded good on background harmonies & a solo spot....

People here say a lot of misogynist things about Kendra. It's disgusting.

I have a lot of respect for JOI for doing background when she is such a dynamic artist and performer herself.

JOI actually was his support act during his early Brown Sugar dates, when they where label mates on EMI. JOI is one KOOL CHICK. JOI's work with the Dungeon Family, Outkast, George Clinton, Lucy Pearl and now full circle again with D'Angelo....

Houston show was so good I literally lost my voice...had back and foot pain for days afterwards because I danced so much! Best show I've ever been to.

I was curious about how that show went. I saw him the night before in Dallas and it was a great show. I was blown away and enjoyed hearing the live and stretched out versions of the Black Messiah songs.

I would KILL for a live album from this tour. Every song from BM took on another life (pun intended) live. So good. So so so good.

That Bonnaroo set is great. I've been jamming to that recording of the second night of his European tour.

  • It is God’s will that he or she KING SAUSAGE be saved and comes to a knowledge of truth – 1 Timothy 2:4.

D'angelo will be playing First Avenue September 7. Got my tickets yesterday and I cannot wait to see this show in this venue. Saw the voodoo tour at the Orpheum in mpls back in the day and it might be the second best concert I've ever seen. Also interesting that jesse johnson is in d's band. When's the last time he was at first ave?

I was also at the Orpheum show, which was fantastic. I saw D a few weeks ago here in DC, and this show is even better. Have fun!

(Also, I miss First Ave and the Twin Cities so bad!)

D is playing tonight at The Roundhouse in Camden, London. Show has been sold out for some time. I've got great seats, front row, balcony centre. Great memories of seeing Prince here last year. Should be a very special night!!
