Scott Storch files for bankruptcy

sigh IMO, his best hits were by Mario ("Let Me Love You") and Beyonce ("Me, Myself & eye").

Billboard said:

It’s an incredible tumble from the top for a music man who amassed personal wealth of $70 million and breezed through it on parties, cars, cocaine and all the trappings and extravagances of fortune and fame.

Storch, who wrote and produced nearly a dozen Billboard Hot 100 top 10s between 2001 and 2005, told Billboard last year he was writing and producing songs for rapper Rick Ross, DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and DJ Steven Lee and reshaping his career as an electro-pop singer.

Plans were to release a four-song EP of melody-driven EDM, drum’n’bass and trap this year, written, performed and produced almost entirely himself.

In his bankruptcy documents, TMZ reports, Storch made just $10,000 last year and his music companies are valued at zero.

It’s not the first time Storch has hit rock bottom. He filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2009, lost his home to foreclosure and was arrested for grand theft auto for failing to return a 2004 Bentley GT that he had leased, allegedly for Lil' Kim. In February 2012, he was busted for coke possession in Las Vegas.

In his interview with Billboard last year, Storch candidly revealed the extent of his profligate lifestyle. "I would always be going from L.A. to Miami to New York, to Russia, St-Tropez," he said. "Costs about $50,000 for a domestic flight, $250,000 for overseas. Yeah, that's an expensive habit."

He started out playing keys for The Roots and gained notoriety when he was responsible for the synth topline on "Still D.R.E".

He reminds me of that other fella, The-Dream, we were discussing recently. Both are marginally talented "songwriter/producer"-types, which to me circa 2001 means you hit some buttons and dragged some wav files for the then-active majors. Maybe all that pussy wasn't so good after all.

.

You can look at images of him in the throes of his dangerous addiction and he looks happy as a lark.

.

Also interesting is his desire to re-invent himself as an "EDM singer" meaning he'll run his voice thru a computer and get paid tens of thousands to pretend to be a DJ at big drug-fueled Electric Daisy OD events, a great environment for such an outspoken addict to be working. He is as full of himself and just not talented enough to make that happen. Maybe him and The-Dream should get together and form a supergroup or throw a rent party.

I'm willing to give The Dream a pass for "Yamaha" because that jam goes hard. Reminds of some classic Ready For The World.

UPDATE! biggrin

Scott Storch -- Rick Ross Is Gonna Lift Me Out of Bankruptcy

Hit maker Scott Storch says he won't be broke for long ... not if Rick Ross, Chris Brown, and Tyga have anything to say about it.

According to Scott, they're his meal ticket out of bankruptcy.

Storch tells TMZ ... he’s already recorded hot tracks that'll have him back in the black as soon as late summer when Brown's album comes out.

He's confident he can return to his heyday of the 2000s ... when he made smashes like "Cry Me a River" and "Fighter."

TMZ says Storch blew $70 million dollars, and now says he's down to $100 in cash.

As for the drug problems that cost him a huge chunk of money -- Scott claims he hasn’t done coke in 2 years.

He has a new record label too called CCS, and he's already signed R&B singer Mario.

There was a reason why Timbaland called Scott "just a piano man"!

Just saying. lol

Timbaland is in no position to take shots at anyone else though, he hasn't made a hot beat in about a decade.

He should be publically mocked for those terrible fucking remixes he did for the Michael Jackson Xscape album. Utter, utter garbage.

Timbaland's only f*** up was that infamous 4 Miuntes track he made for Madonna. I owe VoicesCarry an apology because he was right all along for dissing that record! lol Those beats were terrible and dated badly for Madonna.

4 Minutes is a work of art in comparison to those godawful MJ remixes. Go and listen to MJ's original version of "Loving You" and then go and listen to just how badly Timbo slaughtered it. Same with "Chicago". His remixes are basically unlistenable.

Who gives a shit about this douche bag, its not like he got ripped off, he spent the shit, alot of that $$ was not even deserved. Saw interviews with him back then and he was a straight up dick, thought he knew it all, the ins and outs, not realizing that what he did, was so fucking irrelevant long term and his shine would end really quick, these cats dont get it, you get your honeymoon period and then you are old fucking news. Dont feel bad at all, he flaunted it and put nothing away now he lost it, but lets be real he aint living on the fucking street, so save your oh i feel bad for him, yeah instead of 6 cars he has 2 now.

Timbaland's career crashed and burned the second Aaliyah's plane did.

He's a dick, but I gotta give him props because Beyonce never sounded better than on that first album which he played a big role on....especially "Me, Myself and I".

Some of those songs still get good play, he MUST be getting decent songwriting royalties.

Then again, we're in the frickin Spotify age of fuck all money in the music biz...

Those songs still get played on radio where royalties are properly rated and paid for by advertising.

But the article said he earned $10,000 last year, so those Aguilera and Knowles hits aren't paying the (private jet) bills anymore.
