Jill Scott Chases After ''Fool's Gold'', New Tour + Album

05/2015

Jill Scott has made two big announcements: she's released "Fools Gold," the lead single from her upcoming album, and revealed the tour dates to support it.

On the soulful tune, she sings about falling for an untrustworthy man. "I was living a dream believing things that just ain’t true/Oh, I can’t believe I ever believed in you/You had me chasing fool's gold," she sings on the track, posted on YouTube.

According to Billboard, we will see Jill perform the song when she kicks off a 25-date headlining tour on July 13 in Pittsburgh.

Tickets go on sale on May 15. "Fans have patiently waited four years for new music. When they hear Jill perform live this summer … it’ll be worth the wait," said Scott’s longtime business partner Shawn Gee.

First meaning: A man.

Second meaning: The justice system???

Actual meaning: Sacrificing her beliefs to become a star. She's no underground chick!

Jill Scott should have been a "star" a long time ago. As many know on the org, I'm a BIG fan of hers. Still, after her freshman and sophmore albums, Ms. Scott's subsequent albums have been inconsistent. In my humble opinion, Ms. Scott would have been better served if she had a team of talented producers and/or arrangers to assist in honing her skills; the woman is lightning in a bottle. Its ironic to me that she now at Altantic... producer Jerry Wexler put Ray Charles, Sista Franklin, and Wilson Pickett on the map.

Does Scott have to be an underground artist to be legit, not hardly. I'm not sure what beliefs she's sacrificing.... confused

Yes, I did, the woman the cast was superb. Till today, I don't know why that HBO series only lasted a season, I kicked HBO to the curb after that. I bought the DVD set. I was hoping some one would pick up The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, PBS would've been a nice fit.

It was good, wasn't it? TV shows about Africa usually fall into two groups:
1)Documentaries about traditional people like the Masai, living close to nature
Or
2) Documentaries about war and famine and poverty.
Both are cliches. What I liked so much about this series was that it portrayedAfricans as normal people who have jobs like secretary or hair dresser and have fun... In fact, I liked the TV show even better than the books!

No, Jill isnt the "star" she should be, I'm talking about straight up talent wise. The record biz has changed soooo much people who once had an ear and talent could fine tune an artist talent are long gone. If she'd been from a different decade, Jill would have had hit album after the next.

As an actress, she's superb. Cavedwellers (Showtime) and Ladies No. 1 D... should have been a revelation to the flim industry. (IMHO)

My nickname for Jill has ALWAYS been "Jill Sensational Scott"...Her Beauty, Her voice is all so captivating...You're hard on her cuz your're a Die-hard-Fan so I get where you're coming from,..BUT...I feel she is a STAR in her own-right...The Obama Staff and The GRAMMY Officials picked a group of Popular Ladies of Soul to perform during their 2014 White house PBS music series...No one will argue that Jill deserved to be asked to do the event....A lot of Super-Star Singers will NEVER get an invitation to The White house, even Queen MaDonna has complained about not being invited (yet)...Prince Finally got an invitaton this past weekend....So Jill is def a Star...
