You should, probably, say SOME gay men. Not all gay men are into Madonna in such a way that you describe. Although, I like some of her songs, I've tired of her voice as she's gotten older. Love the 80's Madonna sound more so than her newer songs. She, Kylie, and Britney's voice all have become less attractive to my ear. [Edited 6/20/15 21:25pm] |

I think the previous single Ghosttown had good melody and an old and new school vibe to it. But this song was not crafted well. |

Even Madonna knows it's a bad song - so it's kind of tongue and cheek. The video however screams desperation - not the concept as such but the celebrity cameos. When you feel that the likes of Rita Ora will help your street cred you know it's a sad state of affairs.
However I'd say the worst songs of Madge's (when she is trying to be serious) are:
1. 4 minutes
2. Beautiful stranger
3. Give me your lovin'
4. Hung up

Isn't it ageist to say she should hang out with people her own age? They're not many if any celebrities her own age doing pop/dance music so how would they fit into the video? |

Hung Up is an iconic song. I don't see how anyone can say it's her worst! Beautiful Stranger is a terrific song and not serious at all. It's from an Austin Powers movie. How can that be considered serious?
All of the celebrities in the video she knows and mostly of them she has worked with before. So it's not like she chose them randomly. Rita Ora has modeled for her daughters' clothing line |

I'm just going to say that people make excuses for Madonna that they wouldn't dare make for any other artist. So she's "having fun" and she's always done this sort of thing and if you think she's desperately trying to cling to relevance then you're as ageist as the music industry is as well as sexist because Madonna's a woman or whatever combination of ad hominem insults and flimsy justifications that get thrown around in defense of her behavior but the bottom line is it's embarrassing. Madonna is a legend and obviously does all this to stay in the spotlight, she continues to make money despite herself and I don't mind her being as successful as she is. She could drop an album every year for the rest of her life for all I care as it's her right as a music legend just as it is for her to go about it in the way she has but it's still desperate and embarrassing and dims her legacy.
If Madonna weren't famous I highly doubt I'd be seeing people defending her behavior. On top of that, people (on here at least) seem to take more umbrage with a Rihanna or a Katy Perry or a Lady Gaga or a Miley Cyrus doing what they do but when it comes to Madonna? Oh no... she's Madonna, we can't have that! You're an ageist, sexist, close minded bigot if you criticize her. I respect Madonna for being a musical legend but I don't respect her obnoxious stunts. I don't like it when most of the younger women do what they do most of the time so what makes you think I'll give a 56 year old woman a pass? Y'all trippin'. |

How is it desperate when Madonna has always had a fun lighthearted tongue in cheek side to her music as well as more serious songs? I don't see it as her being desperate but her just being who she is, but somehow people have a problem now that she is older. In fact, I would say a large part of her legend is built around fun dance songs and sexual imagery.
I don't see anything so obnoxious about the video. She's dancing and having fun! I guess over 50 that's not allowed!
People act like she's Kate Bush or Joni Mitchell who is all serious all the time and just out of the blue she decided to do a fun dance song.
I enjoy some songs by Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Miley as well so I don't see how I'm giving Madonna a pass. Some people are always on their high horse about fun pop music.. Relax, laugh and have fun sometimes. |

Releasing this video now is a desperate attempt,to take the spotlight away from Janet's MEGA comeback. But it won't work Madonna. Just like your fake fall, your album still FLOPPED!!
Also the video concept Janet already did with "When I think Of U" & "Alright" videos..
Maybe when Janet collects her Grammy next year it'll make you realize another karma. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

edit: used the flechette remix with the MNiP album edit verses at the drops, sounded right hilarious at 146bpm like a dnb/jungle sound. loved the 'do that somebody' and the bitch im madonna's sparring lmao sounded a dubby mess. [Edited 6/21/15 11:53am]

to those who accuse Madonna of not doing age appropriate songs,it's worth noting that the first two singles from Rebel Heart were "Living For Love" and "Ghosttown".....two 'serious' songs that feature 'adult' lyrics and no rappers. For the third single, let her have a little fun, sheesh. As a longtime fan,I wouldn't want her to release 'serious' songs all the time. That's not who she is,

What I meant by serious is credible – I wasn’t being literal. For example ‘Holiday’ and ‘Music’ have fluffy lyrics but are intended to be credible/ taken as a serious piece of music. Whereas I don’t think her new track is at times it feels like a parody.
In regards to my pick of her worst songs – opinions are like assholes...

I agree with this but then I partially disagree.
I don't think saying "Madonna has always made music like this or has always behaved like this" is making an excuse for her behavior. When I look at the video I just think "Oh here goes typical Madonna trying to get people's attention". I mean after all she has made an entire career off of it Mind you, I think the video is desperate as well... but at the same time Madonna is known to do these types of antics. She has also been criticized very heavily for her antics to the point that one of her albums got banned from radio. So I don't see how you think she is "getting a pass". If any artist is getting a pass than that pop star is definitly Beyonce. She can pretty much get away with making a mediocre album, song, performance, video and people will praise it like its the greatest thing since the internet |
