The Monkees ~ That Was Then, This Is Now

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Don't know anything about that, unless you're talking about the cover art with the "20th Anniversary" on it. I just have a regular black 45.

I don't have that on single.

I am so in love with this song!!!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

^^I don't guess that's the same Mosquitos that was on Gilligan's Island, where the castaways formed their own groups hoping the band would get them off the island. The Mosquitos left them behind because they didn't want the competition back home. lol

I think MTV and other stations rerunning the show in the mid-1980s helped this song become a hit, and several Monkees albums re-entered the Billboard chart.

I wonder if MTV will do it for the 50th coming up? I doubt they will appeal like in the 80's, but I wonder and you never know. At least Mickey's voice has held up.

The main MTV doesn't show music anymore, does it? Antenna TV still runs the show. Mike sounds pretty good, especially since he hadn't been performing for over a decade.

.

2015 is supposed to be The Jackson 5's 50th anniversary. They had been performing for a few years before they made a record. First as a trio, with the older brothers.
