Not really different than any other time, like decades ago when some gospel acts performed in clubs, or in the 1970s, when groups like Mighty Clouds Of Joy did funk & disco styled songs. Stryper type rock acts had controversy as well and there's Kirk Franklin's hip hop influenced songs. Even Amy Grant was criticized in the 1980s for doing pop oriented gospel music. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm sure she's not making a mockery of the Lord with that video and beat but I could see how others might take it that way. God goes Trap. [Edited 6/14/15 19:53pm]

They have always pushed the boundaries of traditional gospel. I'm not a fan of trap music. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

[Edited 6/15/15 14:42pm] Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman
