Just a few weeks ago, Janet Jackson, one of the most celebrated artists of all time, announced her return after a seven year hiatus from recording music. Now 49, the singer faces a different landscape than she’s used to, and her comeback could have been an uphill battle…but in typical Jackson form, she’s doing things her own way, and it actually might end up being a great business decision. She’s In Charge

I think this comeback is gonna blow as much as her vocals do. Especially if T & J aren't in the picture. They made her....with the help of her last name.

Great article! I'm looking forward to this album. I haven't brought any new music in quite awhile. I love the fact that she is taking it into her own hands. It's like she said the hell with a record label. I'll just create my own shit. And that she did!! Go Janet Go!! BlackCat1985

commercially, Janet has been irrelevant for the last 15 years...which means she was 32 yrs old... Fact of the matter is, radio and TV will not push an almost 50 year old artist, my 15 yr old doesnt even know any of Janet Jackson music...

Honestly, it amazes me how people cannot and WILL not get off this whole "irrelevant" topic. Artists in the caliber of Janet, etc. will ALWAYS have relevance, in and of the fact that they are ICONS. She doesn't need to latch onto relevance like these new artists out here today, most of which won't even be around in 15-20 years. There will ALWAYS be a hunger for her music, simply b/c of her iconic status alone. She has paid her dues, and owes nothing but to show her fans a good time. And maybe you should expose your 15 yr old to her music....GOOD music, instead of this crap spewing out of the airwaves today. "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX"

She was 35 when she had her last No. 1 hit, and over 40 when she had her last No. 1 album and Top 20 hit (without any featuring young artist in it). Janet will never be irrelevant.

Exactly. Janet's relevance is in the new generation of pop artists who emultate her style on a regular basis, whether intentionally or subconsciously. "Get up off that grey line"
