How talented does she have to be though?

Rap is pretty much dead. What credibility is she supposed to be aspiring to?

All we can ask of someone like her is that her songs be catchy, and that she delivered in spades (no pun intended).

Personally I think she raps in a "black girl" accent because rapping in an australian one would've been ten times worse.

What really killed her was her inability to put on even a somewhat passable performance live. Everyone has seen her by now on TV and knows she sucks, so bye bye touring career.

It's happened to the bes- I mean adequate of them. Has J-Lo ever toured? I can't remember but I do know she's not a live draw because if she's not playing Selena she pretty much disappears on stage. I recall ONE exceptional performance throughout her entire career and that was on some awards show last year. It took that long!

So stop pretending Iggy is the worst thing to happen to music. She IS music!

What are you even trying to say? lol

Did you miss me mentioning Eminem?

Granted, many white people still act like he's the be all and end all of hip hop but I've never seen more people say he sucks than I have within the past 2 years. lol
[Edited 5/30/15 17:42pm]

Eminem has definitely received some criticism in recent times, for his latest material, however I think most will agree he's got skills as an mc.
He's got skills and has improved technically but artistically, the dude is stuck in 1999. He's got nothing new to say and sometimes it's even embarrassing how he still raps like an angsty, rebellious teen despite being a 42 year old man.

I dunno I think using her own accent would have been something that would have made her unique and set her apart. I've heard some Australian rap before, and from a female rapper, it ain't as bad as people have said. lol But take Rihanna, she is a meh singer but her accent makes her distinctive and she makes some cachy pop with it.

I agree about her live performing though. Like WHAT is this? lol No one is paying for this.

This can simply be summed up once again as horrible PR. If she already wasn't taken seriously as an MC, this travesty killed any possibility of that happening lol

How do black women from the South talk? They all talk like Iggy? Cool!

You're probably being facetious but no lol we don't. Lord knows I don't sound like Iggy but it's clear she tries to sound like what SHE thinks we sound like, because she probably been mentored by southern rappers.

You familiar with TI? Good rapper but he blemished his legacy by spawning this misery on the public.

"Southern Black-cent?"

Nikki M is from Queens....and called black women who compete with her "Nappy-head h-s"...(Not many expressed outrage)..

Most of these new Northern rappers are using 808 "Trap" beats...(NYC and Chicago)

"Trap" began in Atlanta...

Folks used to call bad-areas "(Dope) Traps" in Atlanta-area..

Even some of what Drake, Rick Ross, and Wayne is doing originates from "Trap".

It's not "boom-bap" or "R&B and Jazz hit sampling" from NYC nor the Zapp Funk sampling from LA..

Not to defend Iggy for some things..like having part of I. Banks name..

How can you be hard-core knowing all of these jazz songs? lol lol lol

HipHop is opportunistic, trendy, with some people who are in it for street-cred early, but are not really that way. You have hardcore hood rappers talking about designer shows and attending Fashion Week in NYC and Paris.

Plus, having a huge signature hit--can end a career, or limit them....as people wait for you to have another like it.

Some people "on the pop side" will tell you Prince ain't had a hit like "Kiss" since ever...

Plus, Charli XCX doesn't tour with her to perform that song with her...

Well I definitely didn't like that nappy-headed line Nicki did and I don't care for her for it. For your other examples, I don't think northern rappers "borrowing" from southern rappers or rappers talking about fashion, etc is the same as a White girl from Australia trying to rap in "ebonics" with southern accent. If she was a rapper like say, Paul Wall, a white dude from Texas who actually sounds like that when he talks, whatever, but Iggy goes out of her way to sound like something she's not, and like I said that's why people think she's phony. That's one thing you can't be in hip-hop. lol Rick Ross still gets dragged for his corrections officer past LOL

Also when you brought up Nicki it reminded that she does those British accents sometimes and that's also just cringeworthy! lol

Funny you should mention Rick Ross because I always thought it was funny how he got away with lying about his past. Being a corrections officer instead of an inmate. No one seems to care and he's still out there making records.

Yeah it hasn't seemed to affect his career that badly. Maybe it's because he already had some hits under his belt before he got exposed? I dunno. I see him getting clowned about it online sometimes, and people pretty much view him as a studio gangsta and don't take him seriously as a real gangsta lol

Bottom line: Iggy has less star power than the amount of people who would actually pay to see her.

There's no way she's bouncing back from this unless she does a complete image overhaul and even that guarantees nothing. She's already pushed it to the fall and now has cancelled it indefinitely so what makes her and her team think that anybody is going to suddenly want to see her a year later? I know absence makes the heart grow fonder but can that even be applied here? When her album drops next year, all remaining interest in her will have dried up yesterday and her label will probably be working on the next gimmick to peddle. I'm not sorry to say that it's over for Iggy.

Maybe she will marry Nick and call it a day. But I have a feeling she will be back. There is a market for her and she made millions of dollars last year. That's not too bad for a white female rapper from Australia. But if she wasn't hot, we would have no idea who she was.

She had a big buzz and was so close to falling off BEFORE "Fancy". She already had an overhaul (including those racist tweets) for the past year of success to happen. She toured last summer while "Fancy" was #1, and even performed "Black Widow" before the album was repackaged to include that song.

My guess is they are just going to go into the NEXT full real album's promo cycle instead of trying to milk 2014's hits into a tour this year.

The funny thing about the so-called backlash is it's mostly online in an echo chamber of people who already didn't like her, before or after "Fancy". lol

She never really had a Chris Brown scandal to support this idea. She toured last summer when "Fancy" topped the charts. It's just time for the next album/hit.

Maybe, maybe not. She does have "Pretty Girls" going for though that's a Britney song. The main reason behind Fancy ruling the charts last year was because of that Clear Channel Radio program that bought her slots on the air. I doubt she has the longevity to disappear for a year and return on the same level she was on when Fancy was on the charts.

Nick Young Popped the Question...and She said Yes

06/2015

Look for Iggy Azalea to be reworking the lyrics to “Fancy” — she’s now got an enormous yellow diamond that matches that description exactly, thanks to a sweet Monday night proposal from Nick Young.

The L.A. Lakers star dropped to one knee on his birthday to offer Azalea the giant rock, which got him an enthusiastic ''yes''.
Young designed the 10.43-carat ring, consisting of an 8.15-carat fancy intense yellow diamond and a white diamond halo set into white gold, with jeweler Jason Arasheben of Jason of Beverly Hills. “Nick started throwing around ideas of possible ring styles nearly two months ago,” Arasheben said.

“He really took his time and made four separate trips to see me. He knew he wanted a cushion-shape stone. He was very meticulous and changed minor details on the design a few times until we both felt it was perfect. He was really determined to create the perfect ring for her.”
In a statement, Arasheben added, “We wanted it to be both a ring of Iggy’s dreams and a ring that fit her personal style. It is always an honor when a client trusts me to help design a ring that symbolizes one of the most important decisions of their life.”

Well before the public proposal, Azalea and Young have never been shy about sharing their love, even starring in a Forever 21 ad campaign together. And they certainly haven’t skimped in the gift department, either: For Christmas last year, Young got Azalea a diamond-studded heart pendant, while she got him a vintage Chevy convertible.

Some people accuse her of being a phony. Is she??I just see this turning into another Vanilla Ice situation. I think her 15 minutes is already up, judging from the backlash. It will be interesting to see how her next album does. Swaggy P (stupid name) is too busy being the "She's not racist, she has a black boyfriend" marketing tool for Iggy. Their relationship feels more calculated than Jay and Beyonce's marriage but if it's real then Nick never struck me as the smart type; he was an easy target and being an NBA player means more money anyway.

Well, it looks like they're getting married shrug

A tonne of songs are on the radio due to Clear Channel except they don't go #1 the way "Fancy" did internationally where Clear Channel doesn't even own the stations.

Yes, time will tell, but to bring up this big question because she isn't touring doesn't prove anything.

It's not simply because she isn't touring. It's because of why she isn't touring, whatever the reason may be. I still think at least part of this has to do with flailing popularity. I can hope anyway.
