Iggy Azalea's Entire Tour Canceled Her tour has been plagued with issues for a while now, with Nick Jonas jumping ship as one of the supporting acts and then dates being pushed back. Now it's being canceled entirely. What do you guys make of this? Earlier this week there was an online petition for her to give back her Billboard award. Why all the hatred for her? Some people accuse her of being a phony. Is she??I just see this turning into another Vanilla Ice situation. I think her 15 minutes is already up, judging from the backlash. It will be interesting to see how her next album does.

People think she's a phony because she's an Australian, who still speaks with an Australian accent when she speaks, but puts on an accent as if she's a Black woman from the South when she raps lol. As a Black woman from the South I think it's hilarious...but I understand people being offended and feeling like she's making a mockey of us. She's really only making a fool of herself. That was her first problem.

[Edited 5/29/15 21:39pm] I think she said she lived in the south when she moved to the states. I don't think she's had any hits on her own. Only rapping on other people's tracks. I think she, along with Robin Thicke, might be on her way down.

Is there a link to this?
The reason many don't like Iggy (me included) is because she's a gimmick even more artificial than Vanilla Ice. Her music is garbage and she keeps making the same song over and over again in Fancy. She may have a decent flow but that's no reason to be considered a good rapper. Being able to chop vegetables doesn't mean you can cook so why do some people try to use her flow (the only thing going for her) as a means of defense when that's one of base level requirements of being even a half decent rapper? Also, she's a caricature; I don't appreciate how she uses a stereotypical urban black girl accent when rapping yet changes to her natural tone when speaking regularly. With her, it's basically another case of "white faces, black music" and while she can be considered this generation's Vanilla Ice, her success is more synthetic. The only reason Fancy got the absurd amount of airplay it did is because of that whole Clear Channel Radio program that paid stations to play the song ad nauseum. Even Ice can't have something like that used against him. Then there's her character. The girl is stupid at worst and ignorant at best and despite being Australian, comes off like an ethnocentric American. Have any of you read her tweets?
Straight ignant. And nothing screams "music industry assembly line product" more than how she reacts to people when they criticize her and tries to play the victim. When people make fun of her, she whines all over Twitter about it instrqd of being the rapper she's promoted as and dissing them back on wax. If she wanted to prove she was a legitimate MC (more legitimate than she is already, anyway) then she had multiple opportunities to do so by biting back at her detractors instead of crying in a corner trying to gain sympathy. Iggy is trash and it's about damn time her 15 minutes are up. [Edited 5/30/15 11:42am] [Edited 5/30/15 11:44am]

^WOW never seen those tweets before. That's just disgusting. About her rapping accent, I was reading about Jill Scott and Eve criticizing her for it, and Iggy responded back very defensively so she does like to play victim and not see how her "blaccent" can come off offensive to some people. I know she lived in the South for a bit but only like 3-4 years, not that much time to for her to obatin a southern accent. Hell, even being southern myself, if I were to rap I wouldn't sound as ridiculous as she does.

And I know, right? The issue is that ahe raps in this stereotypical voice yet speaks like the white Australian she is. That's insulting and the only person I blame more than her for this is TI. He's the one we should be pointing fingers at for this atrocity being her manager and all but money talks louder than self-respect so I guess it's all good :disbelief: It's bad enough Iggy is a flavor of the month but she's just unlikable I nearly every way based on how she presents herself publicly, something TI and her PR team didn't have the sense to correct. By the time she said she would stop whining on social media, it was too late as the damage was done. Now she'll go down in history as the female Vanilla Ice of this generation as she should.

By the time she returns from hiatus, she's not going to have the success she initially experienced. Her time in the limelight is over as far as I'm concerned. Her popularity is already declining; I highly doubt she can weather the effects of a lengthy hiatus. [Edited 5/30/15 14:24pm]

How talented does she have to be though? Rap is pretty much dead. What credibility is she supposed to be aspiring to? All we can ask of someone like her is that her songs be catchy, and that she delivered in spades (no pun intended). Personally I think she raps in a "black girl" accent because rapping in an australian one would've been ten times worse. What really killed her was her inability to put on even a somewhat passable performance live. Everyone has seen her by now on TV and knows she sucks, so bye bye touring career. It's happened to the bes- I mean adequate of them. Has J-Lo ever toured? I can't remember but I do know she's not a live draw because if she's not playing Selena she pretty much disappears on stage. I recall ONE exceptional performance throughout her entire career and that was on some awards show last year. It took that long! So stop pretending Iggy is the worst thing to happen to music. She IS music!

What are you even trying to say? I think I have to agree with CynicKill here. Most rappers pretty much suck live and even on record. Why are we expecting so much of her?? She's mediocre at best so why not hate on rappers like Lil Wayne? U ever heard him live on award shows? [Edited 5/30/15 16:58pm]

What he's saying still makes no sense.
Many rappers actually do get criticized like all the time, most of the time seemingly just for being rappers. There's been very few good things said about Lil Wayne for at least 5 years now, Drake gets clowned on a regular basis, as does Nicki, Jay-Z, Eminem, especially Kanye, and even J Cole and Iggy's worse than most of them so why shouldn't she get called out? I dunno I think using her own accent would have been something that would have made her unique and set her apart. I've heard some Australian rap before, and from a female rapper, it ain't as bad as people have said. I agree about her live performing though. Like WHAT is this?

You're probably being facetious but no lol we don't. Lord knows I don't sound like Iggy but it's clear she tries to sound like what SHE thinks we sound like, because she probably been mentored by southern rappers.
