Should Aaron Hall have had R. Kelly's career? Do you think that the sudden emergence of R. Kelly in the early 90s cockblocked Aaron Hall's solo career? "Janet Jackson is like an 80s sitcom that's been off the air for over 25 years; you see a rerun and realize it wasn't that great..."

No. It's called putting in WORK. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

Work is the difference between talent, and talent and success.

No! I thought they sounded similar at first but that all. R. Kelly seems to be more talented as a writer, producer. And he was quite productive with amount of albums he'd drop.

Aaron Hall was a much better singer but apparently didnt have the writing and/or production skills as R.Kelly...

but to answer the question ....yes.. when R.Kelly & The Public Announcement first came out, almost everyone felt Kelly was biting Aaron Hall's vocal stylings and mannerisms...sheeit, when "ShesGot That Vibe" came out, most people at first thought it was Guy...

Nope. Kelly is alot more dynamic than Hall. Don't tell that to Aaron's ego though. Kells was obviously influenced by Hall, not unlike Hall was directly influenced by Charlie Wilson and Stevie Wonder and so on and so on. But, I just don't see Aaron Hall changing the trajectory of r&b music had a young and hungry Rob not come along.

Decades LATER whenever, whenever I hear "Piece of My love" on the radio I put it on Blast....I was a kid when that jam became a Summer Hit back in the day....Aaron could sing...R. Kelly is a genius Songwriter..Even with all the The MESS that he brought on himself & his Family the Brotha is simply Gifted. Kelly will be writing songs for himself & other Artists until the Day he Dies...He's untouchable..

Maybe if you stopped putting down other artists accomplishments and beefing with your bandmates, your own accolades would be put into proper perspective. Joking aside, it certainly stings Aaron's pride seeing Charlie Wilson rising again, and selling out shows with the help of R. Kelly and the Neptunes (protégés of Teddy Riley). If he was just a little more gracious, he could undoubtedly make his own niche in today's market.

R. Kelly had a nice little career...but to call him a genius is a major stretch... Prince = Genius Maurice White = Genius R.Kelly = commercial success/style biter

Yeah. R. Kelly has way better songs.

I can remember several years ago a younger co worker had the radio on a r&b hip hop station and they premiered R.Kelly song Trapped In The Closet. After the song went off the female DJ was talking about how genius he was for that shitty song. As for Aaron Hall drugs and personal issues derailed a once promising solo career.

I actually hear Aaron's solo debut more than "12 play". It was one of the last major mainstream rnb albums to have a few uptempo newjack jams on it and the slow jams were good too. . Iam sure Iam in the minority though LOL

Damn, I had no idea dude was so crazy. Pretty funny stuff. No wonder him and Teddy would fight. Teddy seems so much more meek and humble compared to the larger than life Hall. I love Hall in Hammers "Pumps and a bump" video LOL. . Never got Hall's second album, but like Bobby Brown, he seems to of wasted his shit. . That you can't say for Mr Kelly. Kelly kept busy after the mid 90's. Hall seemed to dissapear along with Bobby Brown, Devante and heck, even D'angelo. Drugs man...
Dude may keep it real and I don't know what problems he has, but the man needs to come back down to earth some time LOL. Still love(d) his voice and style though.

Maybe Aaron Hall should have had his albums written and produced by R. Kelly. Would have been interesting.

Aaron did do a song with Charlie Wilson, so Charlie didn't mind the bite LOL.
Aarons soundtrack cuts have often been good (though not that Wilson duet though LOL).
"Curiosity" sorta being like a sequel to his best OST song "Don't be afraid".

He did release this though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
