I don't know what you were expecting with Unsung. It's a 40 minute program. lol Unsung is kinda more interested in gossip type topics than the music anyway. Cliff's Notes is good enough for the general public who watches this show. It's good enough for me, because I'm not that interested in Ike or Tina. I guess for people who want to know more, there's books at the library.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Full episode Ike Turner

http://tvone.tv/20703/unsung-full-episode-ike-turner/

I knew Ike's Sons and Craig Turner Tina's Son would not be featured they've seen

too much, I've only seen Craig on behind the music he described his Mother being

dragged into a room by her hair screaming just like the scene in whats love his

account sounded more horrific.

I didn't like this episode again another softball documentary. Ike Turner certainly is an interesting subject but of course the producers failed to go deeper. To interview his grandchildren who didn't witness anything is a waste of time. Where were his sons? They must've turned down the producers I'm sure they seen and heard a lot just as much as the backup dancers and the band.

I agree. They missed alot about the man.

Folks who didn't know Ike did not learn a thing about the man from this show.

Otis Redding's sons look older than one of his sisters.

ok,thanx. I'm not sure if they made it a point to do it or nit but I've always admired stars who have kids who you don't know who they are who live amongst us . Like Tina's kid/kids or like Elizabeth Taylor's kids etc. Plus if my kids were to become famous I wouldn't want to be in the limelight.

CoolMF

I was pleasantly suprised with the DJ Quik episode. I initially didn't think that he merited an "Unsung" but that was an interesting and enjoyable episode.

As a result, I bumped "The Best of DJ Quik" all last week until Father's Day. Maybe I'm getting old but I hadn't listened to Quik in many years- forgot how jamming his music is.

Betty Davis had no hits, and pretty much everyone featured on Unsung had some kind of popularity. The show is called Unsung, not Obscure. razz She seems more like someone who would be featured on the PBS show Independent Lens.

It's not music only, it has many kinds of people and subjects like the British Secret Service. There's been episodes on Sun Ra, The Ramones, Funkadelic, Native Americans in Hollywood, and the song Strange Fruit. It's a bit more in depth than Unsung. The episodes are not all the same length. Here's a list of entertainment topics here and all categories here.

It's a very good documentary series. Didn't catch the one on Funkadelic. The show on Strange Fruit was very interesting.

Betty Davis, can't see that one.
New Birth, yes.
Jesse Johnson, I think a whole 80s Minny scene episode would be great.
Ready 4 the World. Them and all the 80s grease heads would be awesome. Force MDs, Surface, Ebonee Webb, Process & the Doo-Rags, the Deele, Dream Boy.

Kandi Burruss and her former group members XScape are reuniting, yes all four members— well sort of. The ladies will appear on TV One’s Unsung airing tonight (July 8) and reportedly, all the drama that went down between the ladies over the years will be discussed.

LaTocha Scott,Tameka “Tiny” Cottle (Harris),Tamika Scott and Kandi will sit down separately to discuss their rise to fame in the 90’s under the leadership of Jermaine Dupri and So So Def Records, and dish on what ultimately led to the demise of the group.

Kandi has gone on record many times stating that her group member LaTocha and her did not get along very well, specifically toward the end of the group’s relationship, and she has stated that LaTocha and or her sister Tameka spread very toxic rumors about her via interviews.

Kandi has been very stern in not feeling the need to reunite with the ladies, although she and Tiny still remain great friends. Reportedly, Kandi will be receiving the long overdue apology that she claims she deserves.

The episode airs tonight at 8PM on TV One

It was one of the better episodes I've seen in awhile. We are on opposite sides of the fence as

far as that comment goes but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't think anything is admirable about it even for entertainment purposes. As a group these girls were very successful. 3 straight

platinum albums I would say they were pretty damn good. And um they could sing too and didn't

have to shake their asses naked to do so. Of course they were more successful as a group than

any of them could ever be solo. Too bad pettiness and personal differences destroyed their career. I wasn't overly ecstatic about the first album although some good

songs but the followups to their debut were very good. Michael Mauldin even stated he couldn't understand how a group that were as successful as they were threw it all away over nonsense.

As far as Tameka Scott's apology she seemed sincere about it. Hopefully she and Kandi can

talk face to face and bury the hatchet.

And Biggie of all people referring to someone as ugly? lol
