Although Mr Mister achieved colossal commercial success there has always been a vast under appreciation of their musical worth. Unfairly viewed by many as a faceless mid 80 s pop rock band, they eventually scored two worldwide hit singles, their sound showcasing technical ability far beyond the level of musical proficiency normally expected. Indeed, there is an argument that elevates Mr Mister into that rarefied breed of highly respected AOR acts such as Toto, Chicago and Steely Dan. Based in Los Angeles, the band was originally formed by Steve George and Richard Page (later adding über drummer Pat Mastelotto and guitarist Steve Farris). Page and George initially recorded unsuccessfully as Pages before changing members and switching their name to Mr Mister, they were then signed to RCA Records by Paul Atkinson, a former member of revered British psychedelic outfit the Zombies.

Welcome To The Real World , was the band s second album and saw them facing a make or break situation. Fortunately it was a happy ending, with the album producing two #1 hit singles, in Broken Wings and Kyrie , and going on to sell in excess of two million copies. Co-produced by former Yes soundman Paul De Villiers, the album showcases a collection of highly polished tracks, fusing lyrics, melody and showmanship into one glorious clutch of tracks that actually owe as much to progressive rock as they do to catchy pop.

The Isley Brothers: The RCA Victor and T-Neck Album Masters (1959-1983), a monumental 23-disc box set collection chronicling the sonic evolution and abiding achievements of the unprecedented R&B ensemble, The Isley Brothers. This box set follows The Isley Brothers through their transformation from a 1950's doo-wop/gospel vocal group into the world's preeminent R&B rock 'n' soul powerhouse party band.

The RCA Victor and T-Neck Album Masters (1959-1983) features newly remastered versions of The Isley Brothers' 21 albums, nearly all of which are expanded with rare mixes and tracks making their CD and digital debuts. The new collection includes 84 rare and previously unreleased bonus tracks including the "Great Lost Isley Brothers Album" Wild In Woodstock: The Isley Brothers Live At Bearsville Sound Studio 1980, a live studio double album now newly restored.

that's OK.I think Between The Sheets was the last truly great Isleys album anyway,and it's included in this set.

this is a whoppping album with MANY great songs! back then in '85 some where pissed that the younger ones split to do their own thing, and many slagged Masterpiece right from start, cause it "just could not possibly be as good as the albums from the glory days".

not me. I always loved it. "May I" was obviosuly made in heaven, Stevie Wonders "Stay Gold" was also fantastic, Skip Scarboroughs "My Best Was Good Enough" wonderful... hell I even liked the cheesy "Most Beautiful Girl" remake

Really interested to see what they add to the Electric Universe remaster.That album got alot of criticism from fans and critics,but I like it.Times were changing and the band had to adapt to those changes.It's an interesting album with some great tunes.

It's missing 5 or 6 albums from the 1960s and a few 1950s singles too, because they were on other labels. RCA & T-Neck are owned by Sony. Tamla, Wand, & UA aren't.

Marks’ story is that on an unsung soul and funk hero; a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter whose number was in Al Green’s, Barry White’s and Eddie Kendricks’ rolodexes, but whose talents have only been heard in sporadic bursts since his 45s were released and disappeared into Atlanta’s urban expanse.

This is the story of a father and husband who managed to keep his family together as he gigged the third shift six nights a week. The story of a man who wished for more and whose talent is overdue for reassessment.

He and his music are unknown to the majority, but to an obsessive minority, he is a lightning rod, that singular point at which numerous Southern soul and funk musicians converged and exploded, spreading wondrous music in all directions. Marks’ impeccable run of 7” singles, released largely on tiny, local labels, are the stuff of legend, and are hen’s-teeth-rare.

Marks died of cancer in May of 2006, never having issued an album, or ever granting an interview. Given the caliber of his recordings and the near complete lack of information available about him before the issue of this anthology, Marks stands out as the most mysterious talent to originate from Atlanta, a city that birthed no shortage of genius, from acclaimed worldwide (the Mighty Hannibal), obscure yet celebrated (Lee Moses) and local, but well documented (Tommy Stewart).

The Fantastic Four are revered by Motown fans. Their three-year stay with the label resulted in just a couple of issued 45s but the quartet was scheduled for an album release and recorded enough extra originally-unissued tracks to fill a second album. The Lost Motown Album presents the planned 1970 long player in Motown's plan for its running order augmented with more than a dozen gems from the same period. I love stuff like this.....lost,buried,previously unreleased music that was collecting dust in the vaults.I like when record companies pull this stuff out and finally release it.I know that Motown has a ton of unreleased material in their vaults....I hope they release it all someday.

Don't know, I guess it depends on where you get it from. The 1962 Twist & Shout album has also been re-released, but on vinyl only and no extra songs. Can be bought here.
