Don't sleep on the new Snoop Dogg After giving this album several listens, I live it. Shit is so funky and smooth. I love the early 80s groove throughout the tracks. Hearing Charlie Wilson's voice on background vocals is a wonderful addition. I like how Snoop is mostly singing instead of rapping. He recently said if hip hop hadn't been invented he would have been a funk singer like Rick James. I can believe it. Some of my fave tracks are Edibles, Awake, Peaches n cream but really I like it all. Anyone else here digging this album?

I wasn't massively impressed but that's mostly down to Pharrell's production, which I find very mediocre these days. The actual vibe and Snoop's vocal performances are good, plus as usual Uncle Charlie is all over it, which is a good thing! I just wish Snoop had gone all out and got a bunch of REAL funk players in to produce this record. Imagine him working with some of the musicians from Cameo, P-Funk, etc to make this record. |

I can totally see what you mean. He should have taken it all the way and had some serious funk musicians play on the album. If this is the direction he's heading in that would be awesome. Maybe he'll do it on the next album.

Now that would have made it much more interesting. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

Hopefully Snoop takes your advice and goes full on funk n' roll next time. If Rick were still alive and he got together with Snoop, that would have been a fire album.

It's right on time imo. Good album for the summertime to just chill and vibe out to. I like the continuity of the Neptunes sound on here. I could've done without Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar's input though. I tried, but Kendricks stuff doesn't move me at all. It's kept short and sweet, but I still would've liked a few more tracks. I'm sure the trio (Williams, Snoop and Uncle Charlie) will put some more stuff out in the future.

Too thugged out for the chilled out vibe of the albun. Kendrick Lamar doesn't bother as much but like you said at least it's kept brief. Why no Bootsy on this album? I thought that would have been a no brainer.
