"Mr. Put it Down" by Ricky Martin - Minneapolis sound? I just heard this song because a friend told me it sounded like Prince and thought I might like it. It seems to be carrying on the trend of blending retro 70's and 80's sounds with a modern twist that Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars has been doing. I'm not sure if it quite has the Minneapolis sound aside from the synths and maybe the bassline. And the verses kinda remind me of Xtralovable (blasphomous, I know).
It's kinda catchy nonetheless, except when Pit Bull does his parts. There's never a need for that! What does everyone else thing about it?

No. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

Absolutely not. Didn't even bother to listen. Ricky Martin has about as much merit as Alvin and the Chipmunks. He can't be sold on me. "Janet Jackson is like an 80s sitcom that's been off the air for over 25 years; you see a rerun and realize it wasn't that great..."

Sure everyone is ripping off Prince nowadays... The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I'd say this is more likely influenced by Uptown Funk seeing as how it sounded Prince-influenced and was/is a huuuge hit.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Ugh. It is unlistenable when pitbull opens his mouth, otherwise, i like it. Sure its lightweight, but its fun. Ricky has a great spirit! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

If there was a way to eliminate the silly sounding (c)rapper out of the song, this one would sound pretty good.
Andy is a four letter word.
