Kid Creole & The Coconuts I'm just getting into this band. I saw the video for "Endicott" and I thought it was pretty cool. I head some other tracks of theirs over the years. But I wonder if there's anyone out there that can suggest an album for me to get of theirs. They've got a nice Caribbean/New Wave/Disco sound that I dig. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

"Take a look at me,you see I couldn't look better...girl,I'm at my peak and that's a fact, that's a fact...Take a part of me,you know it couldn't feel no better...take it all with ease, before you break your back or get a heart attack...I'm a Wonderful thing baby".
Those lyrics are from their 1982 hit "I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby",which is my favorite song by them.

I have a cool greatest hits CD from Kid Creole and the Coconuts, which was released in 1992.It is called 'Kid Creole Redux' and contains the following tracks... "I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby" "Endicott" "There's Something Wrong In Paradise" "If You Wanna Be Happy" "Stool Pigeon" "Annie,I'm Not Your Daddy" "Yolanda" "It's A Wonderful Life" "Dancin At The Bains Douches" "In The Jungle" "Animal Crackers" "Part Of My Design" 'Call It A Day" "The Lifeboat Party" Unfortunately,it doesn't contain their 1987 song "The Sex Of It",which was written by Prince.

I thought Kid Creole was Lou Bega, he just changed his name ,,, I could've sworn that was Kid Creole singing Mambo #5, plus they look a hell of alot alike

A weird fact about Kid Creole is that he lives in Sheffield, England. Not the most glamarous of places I can tell ya!

Stool Pidgeon cha cha cha cha JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

That song is my jam! Didn't they use to be a part of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band? Cherchez Le Femme was the bomb. Those lyrics are from their 1982 hit "I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby",which is my favorite song by them.

Yep,I think they evolved from that band,in some form or another. But yes,"I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby" is da jam!! Very underrated track.I've always felt that it would have been perfect for Morris Day to sing.

One of my favorite Kid Creole cuts is "Que Pasa/Me No Pop I". My fav line...
I thought our love was finished, When I came from the VD clinic..." I liked to fall out laughing on the dance floor when I first heard this. Man I miss that playful, fun nature of artists like Kid Creole. Far too often, music nowdays is waaay too heavy. It's almost like you can feel the pressure for sales & charts in contemporary artists' music. [This message was edited Tue Mar 25 22:02:14 PST 2003 by codshort] ______________________________________
