What is Mariah Carey Counting Down To?

04/2015
Link

Mariah Carey is about to reveal something to her fans...but what?

On Friday, Mariah tweeted a link to a splash page on her website that reads #RevealMariah, followed by a countdown clock which puts the actual revelation just under two days from now.

Fans have speculated that Mariah is about to reveal a new single, and many believe the single will be called "Infinity," because she used that word as a hashtag in a recent photo showing her posing with the head of her record label, L.A. Reid, as well as her new publicist.

Mariah plans to re-issue her #1s album to coincide with the debut of her Las Vegas residency next month, and it might include some new material, so perhaps what she's counting down to is a new single after all.

Maybe it's to announce she isn't going to record trendy music to try and stay relevant anymore and instead revert back to recording traditional music with substance? I know. Dream on. neutral lol

The big reveal is the artwork for her new album, a collection of greatest hits to coincide with the launch of a Las Vegas residency next month.

She's been doing the same pose for her albums cover for years now. Time to change it up Mariah! Anyway good luck!

The album will feature 18 of Mariah's #1 hits, plus a new song, "Infinity". I would be more enthused over a new EP than yet another greatest hits package.

It's simply an update to this Sony-only 1998 compilation to coincide with her current residency. Makes total sense to me, visually, and I'm sure, sequentially and song choice.

Or at least include 5 or 6 new or unreleased tracks to make the package more desirable.

Well here is the thinking, back with SONY, so $$$ are involved. Also cashing in on HITS they can revist all her work, do reissues etc...and somehow get some life back into her. The worst thing she can do now is NEW music, unless she has a ballad with Walter in production then save it, a track with some trendy RB or Rapper at this point would be more dirt on the coffin.

Lookin like Wendy Williams on Photoshop.

.

So this will be bundled with ticket sales in Vegas to give the illusion that Mariah can sell. And is thin.

.

lastdecember thats so interesting that the best way to market her is to remove her from the marketing... her personality is so out of touch... reminds me of Anna Nicole Smith level of delusion

She has to be removed from it because she needs to be, she is at that point where she is old, and needs to find what the hell she wants, she cant be Madonna, I mean she has been trying things like that for awhile and failing big time, MARIAH needs someone to just say LOOK we brought you back to Sony to sell and tour and make money, not to duet with the Rapper of the Month and sing a verse badly with a song that a 10 year old likes. The thing that is further disturbing, is that cover, its her now with the old body which means she still has issues with who she is NOW.

I thought Glitter's "Loverboy (featuring Cameo)" went to #1 in 2001 (by selling the CD singles for 49 cents and whatever else).

The "Glitter" soundtrack was on Virgin Records. It's all very confusing. I don't know what companies own which labels these days, but perhaps that's why that track does not appear on the set.

"Loverboy" debuted at #2 and was shut out because Sony released Destiny's Child "Bootylicious" at the same time and also at a deep discount. "Bootylicous" was #1

Virgin is now under the UMG umbrella. UMG purchased Capitol/EMI

Tracks 16-18 are Island Def Jam, but maybe it was worth taking the plunge for those licenses and not the Virgin era. Glitter really didn't have a #1?

Yup! I remember going to Musicland and they had that Bootylicous single for 49 cents and they were trying to force everyone who made a purchase to buy it. I told the girl at the register I wouldn't want that smut even if they were giving it away for free!

"Loverboy" went to #1 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart.

OKAY, I knew it went #1 somewhere! lol I am assuming everything on her disc went #1 POP (or both #1 pop and r&b, like "Vision Of Love").

To me, Glitter was hot, and Charmbracelet was the true flop.
